Is there a list somewhere of systems with high/low lag? And is there a list somewhere of systems with "good" agents? Basically I am trying to find a home base for mission running that has reasonable access to lots of good agents and has relatively low lag.

Use Grismar's Explorer in your IGB for agent concentration.
You can also use the star map to show number of pilots in space (=lag) and number of agents in each system.
The problem with your request is that unless you're flying Amarr, you won't find a system with lots of agents that is lag free.

find your self a agent hub...
an agent hub is a system or preferly a station with agents ranging from level 1 through to level 4 ( usually multiple of each level )
down side is... they are almost always in low security if not then 0.0... -

Edited by: Leandro Salazar on 14/08/2007 16:37:50 People do good to not advertise their good agent hubs in these forums, because by doing that they risk turning them foul by people flocking to them. It is not all that hard to find decent hubs using www.eve-agents.com though.
Note that for a 'home' system it is really only worth looking at lvl4 agents. At the lower levels you best switch agents every 10-20 quality levels if you can to get to the high end ones as fast as possible, and once you have skills for lvl4 missions you won't want to do any lvl3s anymore either.

As ^^ said, they can be found easily. I'm sure you already run missions for a certain corp, and probably want to keep doing it for that corp. Just look at that corps agents list in game, and check out their combat/whatever agents you're looking for, and pick the highest qual lvl IV agent in hisec.
If you want to be spoonfed a location that people flock to in order to do missions, go to Dodixie.

Jel has a variety of good agents , whose missions give high LP rewards. No lag whatsoever in the mission running systems around.

Quality doesn't mean nearly as much as sec status. If you can use one in a .5 system almost regardless of quality.

So instead of doing a L4 Q18 in .9 (currently) I should do a L4 Q 16 in .5?
They are in different departments but i wouldnt mind training up another connections book, if there was a big difference between the 2 agents.

Under the condition that the Q16 .5 one is not in a laggy hellhole, yes. At a guess, one level of sec equals about 5 levels of quality. And no amount of sec and quality will make a laggy system better than a lag free one as the majority of mission earnings (at least for me) comes from bounty and salvage, not from the agent rewards/LP.

Though Jel agents often send you to Egghelende, a low-sec pirate-infested system where I have often found Stakhanov pwning newbs. No vested interest whatsoever.

The funny part is that the L4 Q18 was in Auv, where there are plenty of people in local (100+) and the surronding system were pretty packed as well.
This new agent (been there for a day) has had max 6 people in local. I am thinking the only reason this is the case is because the location took me to travel through a few 0.0 to get there. I was worried i wouldnt be able to by ammo there and all that kind of stuff. But i have been surprised and am pretty happy with my new home (though i will have to buy a new salvaging ship with tractors b/c i dont want to make the trip again).

Edited by: Panch0Villa on 15/08/2007 23:45:42 Edited by: Panch0Villa on 15/08/2007 23:44:47 Something to think about is the fact that everyone wants the best agent. Many people might take the best agent, but if you factor in the lag, and then the traffic, a lower Q agent can become an asset because you have less lag, because with the lag, you can die upon entering the mission zone. For some reason, the mission area won't spawn until you enter it, and when you do, it can take a bit for the client to let you start doing stuff. Maybe people have had ships destroyed because of up to 30 seconds lag between arriving at and spawning the mission npc's and deadspace pocket. Also note that most missions take place in either that same system, or an adjacent system, which is why you saw the systems around the agent with a bit of traffic. Also remember, if you are in a 0.5 system, and are next door to several 0.4 systems, you may get called to duty in one of those low-sec systems.
Really, the thing to look for is a few agents of the appropriate level. In practical terms, it's not really suitable to create a mission-running base of operations, I myself moved 3 times, first to a L1/L2, L3, and to an L4. TBH, once you get a L4 agent, you won't really move all that much, IF you're just missioning for income. If you like missions, then you may branch out, but I think the best thing to do is to move into that agents station, to avoid having to travel around between the agent(s), loot, and the missions. Once you are on a good L4 agent, then I would get comfy. Also, get negotiation/social/Military connections to speed things up. The lp store has the military connections book, so you can get it there. You will need a bit of LP/isk, though.
I myself have a "missioning base," two mining bases, and a real home base (near a trade hub, for buying/selling equipment/loot), so from my experience, you might not want to keep everything consolidated, if only for ease of use...

Yes you will. I have one. My CEO has another. A friend has yet a third. All three of us are in Caldari space running L4 missions with no lag. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Andrue is right, there are plenty of reasonable quality lvl 4 agents in Caldari space which are not well used. You have to hunt around a bit for them and dont rely on the more combat focused agents such as Command, Security and Internal Security. That which does not kill us makes us stronger.
