Where can i get the codec etc. Sometimes the videos play, sometimes they dont. Has to be a missing codec issue.

1. Uninstall all codec packs.
2. Install the CCCP.
3. Use a player that supports the CCCP. The included Media Player Classic and Zoomplayer are recommended, but almost any player other than VLC and Mplayer will work.
4. If you still have a problem, download the CCCP Insurgent and post a Test Render here.

Add/Remove Programs works for most codec packs. For individual codecs causing problems, the CCCP Insurgent on Advanced mode lets you unregister filters/codecs. This isn't recommended unless you know exactly what you're doing though, and isn't required unless a specific codec is causing you problems.

Well that render is entirely correct, which suggests something else is wrong.
Some other things are possible:
1) Your computer is too slow, in which case you should either get a lower resolution version of the video or get a faster decoder, like CoreAVC. This is especially true for older CPUs like Pentium 4s.
2) The media player you're using isn't very good. Try using Media Player Classic as a fallback; if it has the same problem this isn't the problem.
3) The renderer you're using is causing some sort of problem. Go to the options in Media Player Classic and try changing the renderer to Haali's or VMR9 (only use this if Haali's doesn't work), which can solve some problems.
If the video is falling behind the audio, that usually means your ystem is too slow.

Well i'm running an Athlon 64 3800+ (2.4ghz) and 1gig of ram. Surely it should run it. I'll try the other codecs and a lower res version though

.MKV is a Matroska Vid.
Use VLC, as it has the codecs built in and is free. The French actually did something useful for once: Linkage

should be fine. The stuff about fast PC's is really FUD where x264 is concerned- i have never had a problem playing back 1920*1080 x264 videos on my 3000+

Its more important on higher bitrate videos (which EVE videos are not); the resolution isn't the only thing that matters. Also note that the features the video uses are also important; I encoded a 6 megabit 1080p trailer and it used over twice the CPU on playback as the Apple 1080p trailers, because the Apple trailers are Baseline Profile (lowest CPU requirement) and lower bitrate.
