What is the best way for a small sized corporation to get started in 0.0? Join an Alliance?
What would be the requirements for this corporation?
Pros? Cons?
Any suggestions or thoughts, would be appreciated. --

Depends on what you want to get out of 0.0.
If you want to pvp you would feel comfortable in npc 0.0, where public stations are everywhere, but you have to share them with people who'd rather shoot you than anything else.
If you want to make money you are better of joining a 0.0 alliance, you can make much isk with ratting and mining there. Problem is that you have to participate in whatever the alliance is doing now and again, fleet ops. defence operations and POS logistics.
+ money, - independence.
every alliance is different, so scope around.

You could always apply to be a renter under a 0.0 alliance. BoB will charge you some outrageous sum while those in the North are more likely to be reasonable.

Edited by: Aphotic Raven on 16/08/2007 12:03:21 Renting isnt all its *****ed up to be, no one controls 0.0 in reality, you will still be vulnerable and your host will probably recruit the best and brightest among you.
There are a lot of NPC stations in 0.0 and if you look at the map options you can make it show stations, people in space, jumps in last hour, kills... all kinds of things.
In my opinion you should find a station that no one ever goes near, get your corp jump clones (you will need high corp standings with an npc faction) so they dont risk their implants and get out there, go look around on the test server, its free and 110% safe
If you like the area then go for it.
You need to teach your people how to use safespots and about bubbles, but if you're careful you should be ok... there are stations that i have seen entirely empty for days on end.
Even the worst 0.0 is imo a lot better than and low sec or high sec.
The most dangerous part of the journey is the first few jumps into 0.0 and the really highly travelled routes, checking the map with different settings on will make these show up for you! if your autopilot is taking a route with 500 ship kills, 50 people in a few systems and 5000000 jumps in the last day then... look for a longer back route.
No one will ever respect a true "pet" corp... so having allies is fine, but being a pet makes you nothing.
Just my 2 cents

If you are looking for PVP you should have a much easier task of finding one to join as most alliances always like more fighters.
It all depends on what you are looking for and how large/small your corp is.

Learning the game mechanics for moving around 0.0 is crucial to survival. All your corpmembers should have a set of tactical bookmarks to move to and from empire and around 0.0 safely. Pilots in covops frigats / recons and interceptor pilots have the easiest time moving through 0.0. Any large ships such as cruiser and above, as well as haulers, need escort or at least scouting.
There's a guide to tactical bookmarks free to the public on Agony's website. If you've never been in 0.0, we take a class hunting in 0.0 with a frigate wolfpack. Have a look at the link in my sig, and feel free to drop by the "AU_PVP_UNIVERSITY" ingame channel or pm me if you have any questions. --- PvP Training: www.agony-unleashed.com "Veni, Vidi, Caedi" |
