Hey fellow mission runners,
I've been grinding level 4s like a madman recently because of the great cash flow from it. I'm just wondering if there are any faction mods that would make my raven much much better without having to pay the 1.5 bil for a Gist-B XL booster. Is there any gear that is completely necessary that won't completely break my wallet? Something for maybe 200-300 mil that helps a whole lot?
Thanks, Shell

Start with navy hardners and a Domi/Republic XL booster and SBA. That will help you fitt the rest of the T2 stuff alot easier. After that the gist booster should deffinatly be your goal. It'll improve you surviveability alot and you have to fitt less cap stuff and can fitt more BCUs :) Sig removed. Please email us at [email protected] if you would like to know why. -Conuion Meow

Thanks for the reply. Also, is there any cheap-ish faction/other XL or large shield booster that I can perma-run? Anything under a few hundred million? It seems I can almost permarun a tech II large sb, but not forever. So I definitely can't permarun an XL.

As I suggested, the Domi/Repubic is your best go. It's basicly the same as T2 except for 50 less CPU. The guristas/caldari booster has to high roof to be substainable. Untill you can afford a gist booster that is. Sig removed. Please email us at [email protected] if you would like to know why. -Conuion Meow

I would go with either the dread gurista or caldari navy xl shield booster personally. they have the same boost amount, same cap need, and one second less cycle time. the domi/republic is less boost and less cap need. you can get into the caldari navy ones at a resonable cost.
i would also recommend caldari navy ballistic controls and launchers. with these you will be putting out more damage, thus get the mission to a sustainable dps faster.

Thanks Trivit.
All this info really helps (especially the permarunning setups link), but I still can't find any setup that can permarun even a large shield booster without spending about 500 mil on a Gist large booster. So should I go that way, or save up for a Gist XL booster?

Why the obsession with perma-running your booster? It really doesn't take that much attention to run the thing when it's needed and turn it off when it isn't...

Edited by: pandymen on 17/08/2007 18:53:55 Shell, with regards to what you NEED to run level 4's as far as faction gear...my answer is nothing. All these boosters, etc, may have been necessary to run WC/Blockade in the past with 3xBCU, but you don't need them anymore (and I didn't need em pre-rev II either).
I run a raven with a LARGE booster II, and I finish them just fine. The tank is sustainable for quite a while with 1 booster II and 5x hardeners, 3xBCU, 2xPDU in the lows (and 3 cap rigs). If you start messin with XL shield boosters, you are gonna have to stick more cap stuff in your mids, which brings your resistances down compared to mine, which brings my tank even closer to yours.
And if you wanted to permarun that setup above, you just need to add a cap mod in the lows, and I think that gives you enough. But honestly, you don't need to permarun...
Knowing how to run a particular mission is much much more important than spending 300+ mil on any one component. The only reason you would want to is to get the uberest gear....but then you're spending money on something that doesn't really increase your profits at all....so its just lost money.

Um, why? It's not like the XLs are less efficient - round about the same, IIRC.
I run an XL booster and no cap stuff in my mids...am I a logical impossibility?

Yeah, I understand. I run them just fine with a LSBII aswell, but I would love to be able to permarun. These missions are my general source of income, so I'm just trying to invest money into making more money.
I used to do level 4s in a domi, and I could permarun two reps, which was great. But the damage was quite crappy to be honest.

Still, perma running is not really going to make you isk faster, unless your tank is so bad, you have to do warp outs. So your really not investing isk to make more isk, your investing to have less worry when flying.
If your wanting to get more isk, your going to need to squeeze out more damage. CNR BCU's, Launchers, Ammo will kill things faster, which will provide you with a double bonus. 1. Removing enemies faster so tanking becomes easier. 2. removing enemies faster = faster completion = more isk in the same timeframe.
