After checking the stats on the Navy Caracal its a massive step up stats wise to the Caracal on paper, I'm Unable to fly a HAC and training for one is not on my list for a while so a Cerb is not an option and I'm wondering if the Navy Caracal is worth the price (similar to a Raven)

Its only worth the money if you want to have a shiny ship in your hangar that will, more than likely, never pay for itself unless you spend solid days grinding with it.
PVP-wise, you'd be better off using the money to buy and fit multiple Caracals, because when you lose the navy one, it will hurt the wallet like hell.
Maybe use it in a small gang, as a support ship? I dunno.
Do the right thing. Don't leave shuttles in space. |

I guess my line of thinking is instead of buying Wristy L type shield boosters and USMC Heavy launchers and Dread sandpaper BCS is to sink the money into the ship.

I actually like using the navy caracal for level 3 missions. I look at it as a fun alternative to the norm

Well except for the lower resists and CPU and having higher PG and a drone bay its roughly similar to the Cerberus and the price is about the same to.

You can fit a mean passive shield tank on it and run level3s in it. But then a drake does the same thing better while being cheaper at the same time.

its simply not worth the money. get a caracal or train for the cerb if you want a missile cruiser..

The Navy Caracal is an awesome cruiser, but it has one big drawback... the cost. So if you don't care about ISK, by all means, get one, fly one. But if you do care about the ISK, get a Drake instead... or a Cerberus... or a Nighthawk... all of which can do almost everything the Navy Caracal does, and then some.
The only thing none of the above can do really well, but the Navy Caracal can (with a bit of effort) ? Be a Heavy Assault Missile platform. That's due to the much higher base PG compared to number of launchers (so you can actually and barely squeeze in a workable HAML fit), and the missile velocity bonus (which turns the really gimped range into a more manageable one).
