( I'll take the example of Amarr and Gallente for this thread )
That's a fact, Amarr and Gallente have grown separatly. They developped totally different language and cultures.
I know that there's automatic translator, but, it should have been interesting to "offuscate" amarr speaking to a gallente and vice-versa. I explain : When an Amarr player (or NPC) send a message in mail or chat, only Amarr players see it in clear. Other race players see some kind of weird message that is not understable. But, with the appropriate skills (Social -> Amarr Language in this example) the message becomes more and more clean. This could introduce a new "role" in the game : "Translators".
(Disclaimer : It was just a thought, you can flame as you wish now ) __________

understand your idea. but a bit ott for a roleplaying game that requires "group" participation !
At the end all chars attend school so they all learn "eve-speak" if you wish .. and thats what we use to chat !

i understand what your saying . and true . thecultures of eve most robably have diferent languages . but trust me on this the coding wont be worth it . just cause nobody in the end will use it .just like in everquest . commen tongue will prevail .
theres soo much to be done in eve . i think it would be a waste of developers time

Ok. No problem with that. I've thought about this feature after a MuMe session. But as you have said, technical drawback are too important ... __________

I think this comes under minuses outweigh the pluses. It's a lovely idea, IF you could create an EVE-style game and have 25,000 people playing it from day one. In practice, while the game is new and fairly small-scale, it would too heavily restrict the available players with whom to interact; and at this late stage, it would be unfair to bring it in.
