Has CCP said something about it specifically? Otherwise, I would imagine that they could be manufactured anywhere that has a pre-anchored Large Ship Assembly Array. For some folks, that includes some hi-sec systems.

Cap ships for Miners

can this ship use normal stargates or is it limited to low sec?
It is a capital ship so is limited to low sec (0.0 - 0.4) and has to use a jump drive and a gang mate with a cynosural field to move between systems.

hahaha good to see miners getting upset. I think its a good idea, migh actually tempt a few carebears into actually leaving empire, and the alliances that mine in 0.0 are the ones that really need the ore anyway, not the macro miners.

That is the thing... the cap mining ship was introduced partially to facilitate the collection of low end ore. Low end ore and high sec seem like a natural match. What better for a high sec mining corp then this change... oh... but wait!.... lets relegate it to "loose all your stuff to low sec piracy" category. *sigh*
I will concede tho that it would be an isk farmers wet dream if allowed in High sec. So.. CCP probably just went with the lesser of two evils.
Maybe they should license them to a few for high sec use? Ok.. yea,,, bad idea.

nope, They ship billions of units of trit and pyerite up from high sec over 50+ jumps in massive freighter convoys through hostile systems....... OFC they mine veld in 0.0. how else can you get that needed for an alliances ship production apart from the odd industrial rat spawn. Not all do it, but a hell of alot of them do.

lol 0.0 corps do mine low end ore. It may be relagating it to you, but to most people that actually need that amount of minerals for outposts, alliance production etc, it is a godsend. Its a pvp game learn to do it if i were you.

Oh,, I do PvP.....but my point is a mining ship is not inherently about PvP tho.
Well,, I can see this argument coming... "But it is a PvP game,, everything is inherently PvP"....
I guess I cannot really win an debate with anyone who thinks that so I will just stop while I am even.

You can mine low end ores in 0.0
orrrrrrrrrrrr
You can buy a BPO (say, the jump portal generator BPO) research it up as high as you can (takes a while due to the nature of the BPO) and use it to compress the minerals for what (i think) is 6ish battleships. The module itself is 1000 m3.
Given you are able to refine the module in 0.0 for the minimum of loss and have the facility to recoup the cost of the minerals compressed and lost through the sale of ships or modules in 0.0...well, then you would never have to mine veld in 0.0 ever again

Given that This happens already, it will not be long before the Ore Capship arrives in high sec thanks to existing Large Ship Assembley Arrays. --

First off i would like to say thank you for all the replies ----------------
now on to the topic i started i would like to see the Capital mining ship (CMS) able to be in high sec other wise they need to remove the Freighters they are after all Capital ships too because i dont think it would be fair that the freighters are able to be in high sec when the CMS not being able too

I don't think this is right, since freighters do not require Capital Ships skill to operate. A scientist must be an optimist at heart - to have the strength to rally against a chorus of voices saying "it cannot be done". |

You DO know that this is getting nerfed, right? IIRC, refining efficiency is going to max out at 80% for modules now.

still stupid to invest in BPO's for compression now that you know it will be nerfed. Even if it is far off, it WILL cost you isk and time you will never get back.

There really needs to be ships dedicated to strip mining lowends (specifically--not the hulk) and/or higher yield versions of veldspar, scordite, kernite etc., in low/null sec. I had hopes that the Rorqual could be it, but alas. I've heard that CCP is considering modifying the skiff and/or mackinaw to doing this, which would be awesome.

Nice to see you know nothing. They build items with hig compression ratio (top of the line is 430:1 in mineral content/item volume) and move teh module, then reprocess it. Thre is even an exploit that allow to move the equivalent of 2 freighter loads of minerals with a frigate.
So no one mine veldspater in 0.0

lol bighead, you mean you have read that they do. Get yourself out to 0.0 instead of empire hugging and u will see that alot of top alliances mine all low end ores also, its not just trit they use.
