Getting shot at is half the fun!! its whether or not you can survive and kill them first that makes the difference..
new players should team up and get some experience pvp (not solo till you are proficient in your ship class) transporting stuff through low sec requires you to be ether well trained and clever (a scout is always a cheap and chearfull solution to gate camps)but doing it solo will make you a juicy target. if there is a camp dont jump (unless you are hunting) ...its simple..
however pls feel free to keep providing pirates with a source of income, they need it so they have something for us to hunt lol
fly safe and smart

welcome to the MMO learning curve that is EVE..

35 replies and the OP has not responded...so am not sure if he died of shame or quit
If you camp a gate, you don't care how old the pilot is, you scram him and pop him before you look at what corp he was in...so sorry you got caught up in the "omg you bastards ...how many sensor boosters you have...I didn't even lock him" race.
I still have to raise an eyebrow at eh 40mil loss though That is a lot of isk for a "noob" I guess GTC trading is doing well, as there are plenty of 2 week old drake pilots these days...
But for the future...ISK does not equal wisdom

No systems exist (as in works) to prevent it unless you rely on an ALT to fly ahead of you. Which is something I dislike. Funny how you're forced to do that ;)

LOL ofc it does, when u set autopilot it shows you what sec systems you are going to be travelling through, avoid the low sec ones, damn no wonder some people are so easy to kill !

Corpmate on vent scouting ahead works, too. In fact, less of a hassle then using an alt.

My old corp setup 4 or so corp POSes this way moving em through hostile 0.0 space. 1 Mark V worth 120mil and 200mil worth of POS parts in cargo, 1 scout in a shuttle. Didn't lose a single one. It works.

Set your autopilot to prefer safer routes. Check your route, greenish yellowish little pointy thingies are good, orange reddish little ball thingies are evil.

I will give you some advice on how to save $ next time... Undock find a member of RAK or Fallout call then a noob jetison one item... When they take it send them 20 million ISK's then go dock and log off for the day.
I just saved you 20 million and a whole lot of time flying around.
All kidding aside....
If you don't want to keep loosing ships and getting poded dont go into space thats .4 or lower. Learn your colors and change your settings so you can see orange means .4 red means your gunna get owned. Green = safe blue = heaven...

Originally by: Jeffreyham Edited by: Jeffreyham on 25/08/2007 01:16:46 CCP i belive you should do something about limiting pirates able to attack noobs. I dident know i was traveling therw 0.4 to get to a desination.. So i lost 40 mill in items and ships. I would like pirates to stop attacking noobish people and attack people there own age and older the Pu**ys
Been there, done that. 0.4 means anyone who wants can kill you. If you don't want such fights, DO NOT GO THERE.
The first couple of times I went to low sec, I was unlucky enough to meet no pirates. It was unlucky because I had taken a cheap ship, and then having no problem I foolishly figured that low sec was easy.
So in I go with my best ratting ship. And just as I am thinking how great the isk is here, in flies another player ship. And in about 4 seconds I am sitting in my pod and he is asking for a ransom. So I pay and run away.
STILL convinced it was easy, and thinking I just have to pay a little more attention, in I go again, with a new ship paid for by insurance and fitted with stuff I had looted.
Owned again, and podded. But that is enough for me, I wise up, and realize that I need better skills to go in low sec, and not just those than can be developed with SP.
I can now go into low sec. BUT its still dangerous, one wrong move by me, or a smarter move by someone else, and I'll go pop. But when I do it, that is WHY I do it.
So, get some friends or stay out of low sec. Don't try and ruin it for everyone else.

I played in High sec for a couple of weeks. Then i moved into low sec to be with my corp. Still running around in a t1 destroyer and t1 friget. Sometimes i even try to get in on the fights, but i completely understand that my life expectancy is little to none. But i hope to learn the ropes quickly and be of some use. If anything i'll be a short distraction to draw some fire ;)
One of the best pieces of advice i can give you is to NEVER use autopilot. Autopilot will land you away from the next gate in line. Then your ship has to approach the gate before jumping. It's faster to manually warp to 0m from the gate and jump on contact. This works very well, as i've made it through a gate while agressors were waiting for me :)
Also while in flight check the starmap for ships destroyed in the last hour, and when you approach those systems you will be ready for what lies ahead. _______________________________________________

I'm one of the evil evil people you will meet in low sec.
If the system isn't too busy, I will introduce you to the concept of 'ransom' for your ship. If you can't, or won't pay...Sorry One has to make a living.
I will usually take the time to send some mail to you afterwards telling you how to avoid folks like me, and explain why the warning was there. Hopefully you haven't gone and spent a butt-load of isk on implants and you have insured your ship.
I will also give you fitting advice, because sometimes seeing lasers on an incursus is just *wrong*.
Don't worry though, mining frigates are cheap. Be thankful you didn't decide to come in that cruiser you just got to warming the seat of.
Low sec..not for the faint of heart.
PS: The minerals in low-sec are crummy. Go mine scordite in the nice high-sec system next door.

What it really comes down to is that you'll never lose a ship unless you put yourself into the position to lose it. By entering low-sec you make yourself vunerable to anyone and everyone who's willing to take sentry fire to kill you and by warping to a planet or belt therein you're making yourself vunerable to just about everyone. You get a warning before jumping into low-sec, it's there for a reason.
