Maybe there is some info on this somewhere, but haven't seen it myself, so I'm going to ask here..
A couple of days ago I got a mail from someone selling ISK (not for the first time, mind you). This seems to be pretty common, as well as people/bots spamming various channels ingame. Now, I did petition the mail I got, and got a response in turn, saying that "appropriate measures will be taken" or some such, but the character that sent it seems to still be around. I suppose CCP just doesn't have the time to deal with all petitions. Now to my question: Is there anything else we can do than petition? Should we petition it every time we get an evemail like that? I imagine if everybody did that, CCP would be flooded with petitions.
Also, what are CCP doing in these cases? Banning the account, I suppose, but there's nothing to stop them from just starting another trial account. Could CCP ban the IP-adress of the ISK seller maybe?
All input welcome.

Petition, yes. It can most certainly not hurt.
Once I did get a lot of those mails, but they stopped after about 2 months. And I've gotten a mail since. So, just endure it and ignore/delete them. You can ease the annoyance by blocking the mail senders, but they often make new chars
Speculatins: What CCP does, is investigate the seller and probably try to find buyers and the farmer accounts. So instead of just killing the messanger, they take the whole operation. Thats why the spammer can stay quite a while in the game while they get the needed evidence.
To kill ISK sellers, just don't buy the ISK

Are you implying something here? Just curious.

You mean do I imply that CCP doesn't care, or something like that? No, I do not. I imagine it is quite a task dealing with all these issues.

We can't tell you what we are doing against ISK sellers because if it becomes public knowledge they'll heave a whole lot easier time coming up with counter-counter-measures. If you come across an ISK seller be sure to petition him and DON'T buy from him. If you come across someone who you know has bought ISK, petition him as well. If nobody buys ISK then this wouldn't be an issue, but sadly there will always be people who fancy taking the shortest route to eternal n00bness and pay real money for it to boot.

how the heck did you come to the conclusion that the character is still around? short of seeing him buzz your battleship ni a reaper there IS no way, a characters info stays in the game even after they have been banned/recycled/eaten by space whales Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve-Forums:

Really? I would imagine that if an account is banned, the characters on it would be deleted? Thats just what I assumed though, you might be right.

The way to tell if someone is still around is to add them to your addressbook so you get alerted if they log in. ----- J-I-T-A It's a four letter word. |

If CCP implements an option where you do not receive mail from trial accounts if enabled.... Problem solved

Except that those who DO want to buy isk can then just disable that option.

It might be worth putting ISK-seller petitions into a dedicated petition category, and raising the cap on active petitions for that category. Some people see far more sellers than they can currently petition. My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

Yeah, it would save the GM's from manually moving them to the "ignore" folder.

the isk sellers are selling isk because people keep buying isk from them.
when we catch people who have brought isk, we will remove the isk from them regardless of if they have the isk or not. we can and will put them into negative funds.
we also have a few tricks coming to help catch sellers and buyers !!!

Cool...in the meantime we shall continue to chuckle at every obvious ISK-buyer that gets popped causing them RL financial loss.
And please never lock or kill threads asking "why is my wallet going from +500 billionty to -500 billionty ISK....I didn't buy anything from the market haxz11!!11" .

Nice I do hope it stops the ISK spamming in the public channels, IMHO that is the most annoying thing the sellers do =/
Which brings me to another point, the state the rookie help, and public help channels are in. Swearing, isk sell spamming, and most annoying thing there is GM/channel admin/CCP person there most of the time.

Just make a stickied BS news item that says all isk buyers will get set into negative funds and that you are currently catching 99% of them since it's very easy to detect thanks to SECRETSECRET reasons etc.
