I think syndicate probably beats curse in terms of the fun factor and general cluster ******ness D:

I have found memories of my time in Paragon Soul.
I don't think the region itself makes it good or bad, it's more the circumtances.

I like Immensea.
It was the first 0.0 region I lived in, not counting a few days in Syndicate which ended with my invaluable Caracal getting blown up. From Immensea i remember juicy rats and an endless supply of Arkonor, although i'm not really sure if the region really is/was as good as I remember it as, or if it's just nostalgia.

I have spent significant chunks of time in Tribute, Fountain and Paragon Soul.
Some time in Stain and GW.
I think the most important issue is your corp, if you are part of a good team then the region doesn't matter that much in my opinion. Great corp = having a blast, everything else is secondary.
Paragon Soul is a nice and quiet place but unless there is a full scale war then there are no targets for pvp nearby and since it is at the arse end of the universe logistics is a nightmare.
Tribute kinda blows in the resource department but close to empire and always had a decent supply of roaming gangs and other assorted fun stuff.
Fountain is fun, close to empire, NPC stations guarantee that there always will be some pvp, however the cloaking, logging, stabbed, Chinese-text-spam-in-your-face guys are annoying.
I never liked Stain, every time I been there I had to sneak-in and sneak-out. Never got ganked but always got an uneasy feeling that there will be a bubble camp at the other side of a gate with some comrades in big ships. I guess that could be a compliment for the Stain residents.

0.0 is too empty in too many places. Anymore I go out in my af or what have you and get rapzord by a gang of 30 and end up back in the station curtisy of the 10 ppl competing to get on the pod mail...
Naw Empire is where it's all at, My alt is a one man corp, war decing carebears around oursalaert, jita, amarr, or wherever the winds take my sails. Fat haulers, Faction ship noobs and generally picking on whomever I can. Do they hate me? Ofc they do. Do I care? I'm RICH B****!!!!!!!111one

As corny as it may sound, but the best region ingame,
is the region I call home, no matter where it's located.
The region where I pass my time playing EVE,
the place where my friends and I build up our corp,
the place where my friends and I have fun playing EVE,
the place where my friends and I fight and die for our common cause, just because we believe in it,
the place where my friends and I enjoy the riches brought to us by either asteroids or rats.
