Edited by: Amantus on 28/08/2007 15:04:12 Edited by: Amantus on 28/08/2007 15:03:29 Having been unable to get onto Sisi to test the changes, I've just tried my Blockade Runner on Tranquility with the agility boost. And what a difference it's made! While not quite at the somewhat imbalanced interceptor-level aligning speeds they were before the nano nerf, They get to warp very speedily now. I, as I'm sure many other people as well, will be dusting off my blockade runner and using it as often as I used to.
Thanks again, CCP!

Blockade runners are still catchable, they're just harder to capture than other ships.
They're designed to not be caught by a single frigate, and to have a decent chance at escaping from bubbles (especially with the new bubble mechanics).
A blockade runner jumping into a bubble camp can either try to burn out of the bubble, risking getting webbed and/or having a second bubble dropped on them or try to make it back to the gate, risking getting webbed by fast locking frigates and/or Huginns/Rapiers.
Anchored bubbles, however, will still probably spell certain death for a blockade runner (i.e. warps into the anchored bubble).
These ships were designed for 0.0 transport. The main tactics against it are, of course, only available in 0.0 space. However, a few fast locking ships with disruptors can still catch it.

Then it would be better (in the bubble camp scenario) for the blockade runner (in this case, a Crane) to be able to fit a T2 MWD without having to put in reactor controls in the lows. So boost the power grid on the Crane, for example.
Yes, I see your point - in low sec camps, if there aren't at least a few tacklers, and more shooters, the blockade runner is going to turn and warp before anyone can blow it up. ------------------

Me likey. I think I'll have to finish that industrail v skill now. This babies sound nearly impervious to all but the slickest camps in low sec (not 0.0). Looking forward to using one of these!!!

Edited by: gordon861 on 29/08/2007 15:16:14 Let us have Blockade Runners with a bonus to MWD per level, something like 5% less penalty on the fitting of a MWD per level. That would let us really run a blockade.

Hmm, I fly a Viator so I have no issue fitting a T2 10mn MWD. Not sure what it's like for the other races.

Edited by: Corphus on 29/08/2007 16:19:52 i never set a foot inside a blockade runner before. so how do those ships behave? -what are ur chances if u land inside a bubble after jump or warp in a bubble camp. -how fast do u get out of the bubble or how fast do u reach the gate ? -is it likeley to survive if u have a dictor bubbled camp to pass or will u get bbqed in the face ?

A corp mate was reporting last night that it's nearly impossible to get a lock on the blockade runner he was testing with (a Prowler, I believe) before it got back to the gate. Obviously lag, bouncing off the gate, the gatecamp having the presence of mind to have a dictor jump back through with you could all screw you up. Seems that if you're smart about how you fly, you're pretty safe, even in 0.0.

In low sec, before this agility buff, if I had two beta i-stabs, I could jump, align and warp before most small camps (2 to 3 bs/bc) could do anything. Most low sec camps aren't alert for someone who jumps in and immediately cloaks, then aligns, uncloaks, and warps. Even when they have more ships.
Now, that said, every once in a while, you run into a well run camp (like last week) - where there are about 10 ships, and they immediately spot the flicker of you cloaking, converge on you, and have more than enough to scram, web, and blow you up before you can say anything.

I was hoping the blockade runners would get their boost, and so I planned ahead in EVEmon.
Now that blockade runners are useful again, looks like I wont have to drastically change half my plan. Thank you CCP :D -

EDIT: Ok, took a look at EFT. It seems you Crane pilots are screwed. :P You can field a better tank, but you have to fit a Reactor control even to fit a Named MWD and anything else. The rest of the races are fine. Minmatar can't fit a T2 MWD, but it doesn't need to. However, regarding the Crane, it should probably get another few grid, but not enough to fit a T2. If it gets enough to fit a T2, then you get the benefits of the T2 MWD AND the added ability to tank which makes it unbalanced. However, it should be able to fit a named MWD and its tank as well.
While this is true, we can at least fit an RCU instead of an inertia due to the boost now. But with MWD you cant fit the Crane for HP buffer.
Can't have it all I guess.
This was a good change though much appreciated CCP.

a smart prowler pilot can pretty much escape anything you throw at him.

Unless mechanics have changed you never actually land a bubble, always on the edge of it.

Just ... please please please. 4 more powergrid on the Crane. MWDs are nice, and having to use grid mods, because otherwise you can fit nothing else, is just pain.
