Sent off multispecs in 7 deepspace systems, had only Cosmic Signature selected, got Unknowns in all 7 systems, finding a lot of encounters though.

just tested it and can confirm this aswell with 100% certainty
I launched one multi and found one unknown. Launched my set of quests and found an anomaly instead of a cosmic signature. I decided to quickly clear it to see what would happen. I did just so and afterwards the unknown does not show up anymore. System is completely empty.
Hence, Encounters still show as "unknown" with multi's

Same.
Just burning a second set of quest probes trying to scan down an 'unknown'.
Very creatively set up with the best coverage you can get in the system. Over 1h of scanning and nothing found.
Other people have been running through 0.0 and multi-scanning each system, most of them have unknown signatures. It's not very propable that there are complexes or real 'unknown' sites in each of those.
A word from CCP would be welcome. --

Same here. Every system has unknown signal. Second set of quests now, and nothing yet. Something is not right here. But maybe its too early to say its a bug. ---------- RAKI Power |

Same
I have scaned close to 18 systems since the server came back up. All deep 0.0 system and 16 of them had unknowns. There is something definately wrong unless ccp failed to mention that encounters would still be identified as unknowns on the multispec scans.

Possible error source could be that site types are generated when a site is spawned and CCP didn't run a failure-prone script that walked down the database to change all the types.
Essentially meaning, the encounters that were already spawned are still unknown cosmic signatures, only the new ones that spawn from now on are anomalies.
I sure hope so. -- [17:47] <Mephysto> its dead, jim |

You should not need to do this after the patch, CCP need remove these old sites and respawn new ones around EVE, so it brings up the correct sig

Edited by: Tsanse Kinske on 28/08/2007 20:07:14 I don't know why exactly, but I never got the impression from the patch notes that the new scan group was going to affect multispecs at all, so I can't say I'm disappointed. Low expectations ftw, I guess.
edit: Actually, I think it's because sisi multispecs were unchanged when I was last on. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Uh how long was this patch on the test server? I'm sure they new this before it was put on Tranquility released. I'm not sure if the power to be realize this or not but people get more upset when they find out bad new that could have been easlily pointed out earlier. I would have been fine if they had put it in the realease notes that they are working on the "unknown" and the fact that it still located the small deadspace pockets.

Some CCP guy in another thread called this a 'feature' and not a bug, without clarifying this whatsoever. I find this unbelievably amateuristic tbfh, if this is indeed the case...
So what do they expect us to do? Scan every system with every kind of racial probe until we get lucky and guess the right type?
This is so ********, it hurts...

What they said is that multispectral probe doesn't take into account the new category, and that it will be reworked.
So yeah, for the time being, the main feature fix of exploration in rev2.2 doesn't work for us.
At least there's less drones now. --

It seems Grayscale will be looking into this this morning so we can only hope its an easy fix for the multispec, it's a shame this wasn't picked up on the test server
I personaly didn't have time to test this new stuff on SiSi if I did then I would of confirmed the issue.

So multispectral still list encounters and complexses as unknown. And we can't differ them. :-(
Also as I noticed, it list both types of sites, does not matter what I probe for: Cosmic Anomalies or Cosmic Signature.
I wonder how soon it will be fixed, if ever?

I have no idea how this was missed to be honest, but we can only hope the fix will not need a client patch and its something they can perform in a downtime maybe?
I sure hope so anyway!

The whole point was to make encounters NOT show up on the multi and they gone and muffed it. Not impressed. At all.

Funnier still - it seems the cosmic anomaly things are also showing on the directional scanner! No more waiting 30 sec at a planet, just set your directional scanner to 4 au, warp to a planet and hit scan (take 'use overview settings off'). If there's an item in the list labeled 'cosmic anomaly' there, use the on board to get a location.
I assume this isn't intended...

I also seem to have trouble in finding unknown signal with just Cosmic Sig selected.
Seems like we're still having buggy exploration.
