It does seem a bit imbalanced. The ship was supposed to be equivalent in cost to the dreadnoughts, yet the price for the skill is 5 times more.

does seem a bit expensive, and the cap ore really has what,2 good options, compression, and being able to carry 4 hulks, price for skill and bp should be reduced quite a bit

It's cheap! Remember that the carrier skill is in the same range - which is more than half the price of a carrier.

Stops every Joe Schmoe using it to quickly get a jump clone ship in deep space perhaps?
That's the first idea I had as to why it is so expensive anyway.

pricing new skills that high, CCP seems desperate in need of more ISK sinks. Perhaps EVE economy is not as calm and stable as CCP keeps saying. Oh and btw where are those promised regular pro economist's reports on this subject? Perhaps I've missed something...

Dread and Carrier have alot more skills than just the Dread skill itself, i am guessing there are less skills needed for the Industral ship, hence the higher prices

The reason is simple:
No one MAKES money with a Dread/Carrier/Titan unless they use them to jump **** around trading.
The Rorqual(sp?) MAKES money just by filling its role.

QFT. God forbid the money making cap skills be a little more expensive. I mine in my titan all the time though.
