Originally by: Deviana Sevidon One possibility would be to link space missions with ambulation and also include charisma checks in the NPC dialogue.
Example: Agent gives out a mission via Neocom. You are given like any mission the location of a deadspace area. There you do not find the target person, but only some ships of the same corporation. Inside one of the wrecks there is a damaged ship-log. From this you have two options:
1. Return to the agent and get a reward. Although you have not killed the target person, the agent is convinced you did the best you could and rewards you.that
2. Use the ship log to find out where the group of ships you have just killed have been before, searching for clue where the real target might be. In order to do this you will have to contact a hacker to retrieve the data from the damaged log. So you attempt find a hacker that might restore the data of the ship-log, in a seedy bar on a station.
From this the whole thing becomes something like an escalating path. One possibilty would be the hacker does not trust you and wants something in return (another small mission) or charisma and standings checks are made and the hacker is willing to talk to you. Some other random factors come in, like the hacker telling you that the ship log is beyond repair, effectivly ending this path, or he might give you another clue, that leads to the station where the target person has been before. If you follow the path you have to visit another station, another person, or another deadspace location, etc.
It would be important to have randomness in this story, so it does always be same. Also some factor like positive and negative standings should come into play. If you have positive standings to serpentis and hunting a bloodraider criminal, the serpentis-cartel, you might meet a serpentis agent somewhere in the station, that gives you additional information. Or a federation trader contacts you if you have positive sec-rating and high standing to gallente, to tell you, he saw your target in the next system somewhere. Or your Sec-Rating is below -5 and when you meet a pirate in a lowsec station bar and spend him a drink, he might drop a hint about the targets location.
In the end you might, or you might not locate the target, if you are successfull, you can report back to your agent, who comments your ressourcefullness and gives an additional reward.
These rewards should of course being worse the time and the risk taken to complete the mission. So if it was exceptionally difficult to complete, the agent might reward you with some faction module, or special tags, that can be traded in, in the LP shop.
this would be good and would mean that charisma is no longer the useless stat. ~~~~~~ *mods, if you think i'm ugly please say "eeek!"* ~~~~~~ eeeeeekk - Deckard eeeeee...K -Darth Patches gawwwd damn!!1 -zhuge you soo pretty I think you're stunningly handsome and let me just say that you're wearing that dead parrot on your shoulder in a particularly dashing way today. -Hango Your using up all the space hango! - Timmeh |

Just for the laugh of seeing Backdoor Bandit in Jita 4-4 wearing a leopard skin thong and having people slipping notes into it.
Marvellous ideas though - especially when using trade goods etc for your store.
The question is - Will we be able to use our large stocks of exotic dancers?

This could bring new meaning to the term Gate Camp...
"Flight 9942 from C3N-3S Casino Royale now arriving at Gate 72B" *lots of explosions and gunfire*
As far as the clothing goes - Yes Corps should be able to have a standard issue uniform, Maybe alliances, as well. My thoughts on that are that the alliance should be able to define a uniform base, and the Corp should be able to define smaller bits of it to customize it, i.e. Corporate insignias, trim elements, etc.
I'd like to see a variety of military style uniforms as well as civilian formal suits and businesswear, and of course lots of stuff like blue jeans and t-shirts that have funny stuff on them like "Gankbait" with a bullseye on your back.

I'm just suffering from an EVE burn-out and am on an extended leave from the game. Ambulation is one of the things assuring myself, that I will be back later this year, or when this new feature hits the market, the latest.

Things ambulations *NEEDS*:
1 - CORP UNIFORMS
2 - ALLIANCE UNIFORMS - Think Star Trek NG except the colors signify corp.
3 - Visible slaves/pets/exotic dancers that follow you around or are kept on a leash. The roleplay would be HUGE.
4 - MGRL uniforms - Because even Backdoor Bandit likes to get tarted up a bit.

Hopefully, CCP will get ambulation out with no features that will make people who choose not to engage in it angry. If all goes well, and the vast majority of people adopt it (assuming it all works alright, and it is worthwhile and cool enough that everyone likes it. PvPers, Care Bears, and Forum monkeys alike. I'm what you might call suicidally optimistic.) Then they can start to introduce a few things that you have to get out of your ship to do.
As a diehard Ambulation Fanboi, I of course support being able to hop out of your ship, and hunt war targets through the seedy underside of the local station like vermin. Right off the bat. With a particle weapon of some sort.
Alas this is not to be.
But I think having it be totally optional to begin with is the best course to keep the community as a whole happy and gauge reactions to it. Its way, way to early to start speculating too much on large future steps except in the broadest of terms (not that that ever stops any of us). Slow changes, especially with something like this, are best.
I was going to put a metaphor about when you are cooking with eggs, and something hot, and not scrambling them by mixing slowly here... I then realized I watch totally unhealthy amounts of the Food Network. I made myself a crepe to feel better. --------------

I dunno, why not. Lots of people get accused of wanting to turn EvE into an FPS; here's CCP's chance to cater to that market. There's no law saying that EvE must only be about flying spaceships all the time.

Ambulation will come with no fighting at all - first. I'm willing to bet a lot that over long, and I'm talking something like 5 to 10 years here, we will have full fledged fighting in stations, ships, and probably even on asteroids, moons, and planets.
Ahh... and yes, some new footage would be nice...

Having seen the stunning sneek peak of the development of ambulation here I have to say im surprised. I was expecting a jumping hyperactive wowfest but it looks so cool and classy and fits in with Eve's atmostphere perfectly, i'm sure RP'ers are excited at the prospect too.
At first I was skeptical at the idea but having seen the video and read about things like casino's, corp meeting rooms, recruitment npcs, vendor stalls etc I really have to say im 110% behind this now.
With the future plans on planatary flight its clear to see EVE is evolving into a bigger and better game, you can either come along for the ride or stay behind and whine, either way this train aint stopping.

Very cool idea... Though a few suggestions: - - - It should be possible to at least GRAB other people - making threats, yelling, cursing, blackmailing and other nasty things while holding your target... Later CCP could implement stunguns and blunt violence to take it a step further. Maybe even robbing people if no police is around.
Being knocked out implies an undock timer penalty according to how serious stuff it is... (5 minutes for a stungun - being caught in crime takes 15 minutes and possible area ban at the station for a few hours) - - - Even though we don't want to turn Eve into **** (or at least claim to when people kan read these forums) we need some very nude women dancing around... Even males if some characters would run such an establishment. Only have those places in gallente space to draw people from Jita - I'm a nice guy!!

Yeah, I read something about ccp hating that hyperactive toon thing seen in almost every other game, so they decided to build their own, much more realistic engine for human movement.
And its going to be very exciting to see it when its done. :)

Ambulation will be for kikoolols. Kikoolol meaning a player spaming "hello hi, wanna dance ? wanna rp ? hi !! lols. hey you, hi ! hihihi lolololz". that's it.
Kikoo is the lulz for lol that came from "coucou" meaning "hi there"
Why not...
I just hope it will not a place like Guild wars, or at least players will have things to do that is repercutioning on the universe. else it'll be a 3d chat.
The local is better, btw... It's needed, yes. I just hope there'll be important things to do in station or it'll just be a gadget.
- edit - about games, CCP could add 2p Chess, it's simple to code. Or any games world-known. What about a texas hold'hem :) 2isk

Hey CCP this is really great but can we get naother vid or som,e pics or a dev blog aobut it or soemhting because its really really cool :) Like someone said in another thread lets please have things like drugs and drug running boosters stuff liek that. Have it realistic and make it into a carrier so oyu can go to those really seedy clubs and do oyur buisness. Like people saying it could become a really major profession. Especially boosters imagine how much you could sell it for in high sec so oyu would have smugglers and everyhting. Maybe they get bountys on there heads placed by the goverment also to boost bounty hunters.

these are all well and good, but ONLY if there are an addition to the existing system, and do not force people out of their ships. it'd just be a time sink. they can still be implemented, so long as they can still be done from your ship hanger like they can already.

I have to say one thing about what I saw in the video. Good job CCP. The movements are so fluid and it does not look like they are running around like mice on speed.
What I want to see: - Corp and Alliance uniforms We should be able to customize them heavily. - Weapons I am not saying we should be fighting in the station in any way. However, if I want to have a pistol in a holster for all to see, or have a sword as part of a dress uniform I should be able to. - The ability to push, shove, pin against a wall, hold at gun/knife point, or otherwise man handle people Face it, the Eve universe is not a nice place. While we should not be able to kill people in station, we should be able to threaten them. - Meeting in another person's ship Some meetings need to be very private due to sensitive nature of the conversation.

How long will it take to get to your ship? If you have to run the length of the station, because you were off chatting it up, you would be better served staying put.
The whole man handling thing is pointless. Another player being able to do a shakedown/intimidation emote is ripe for abuse. How long would it take to perform this emote? It would obviously stop the other player from moving, you are being pinned to a wall and such. Get 4 or 5 corp mates and grief players? Sounds stupid, but this is the internet, we have stupidity in spades here.
Emotes are cool and will add much flavor, but they shouldn't be able to stop another players movement.
