I WANT the clicky UI noises and beeps and bloops, but I am sick of the electrical buzzing and station announcer voices and background audio. How can I stop the bg noises, but keep the UI sounds? Is this possible?
This alt does nothing but sit in station and trade. I would love to keep audio enabled, but the background sounds are driving me mad at high volumes. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Thanks, I like to hear the UI noises but not the background sounds. Does anybody have a way to solve this?

Edited by: Tamia Clant on 02/09/2007 22:17:25 I think there's a new sound engine being coded, which will hopefully allow this degree of costumization.

So, you absolutely must have clicking sounds when you click buttons, but absolutely must NOT have background ambiance in stations? Wow.
Try making your own sound effects. Click your tongue and go like "boop, bleppidybleepidyblurr" when you open the fitting window. Should solve your problem.

1.) Unplug Sound 2.) Plug into NES/Genesis 3.) Put in game of choice 4.) Play EVE

Edited by: Rollio Polleaous on 02/09/2007 23:32:43 Well you've figured that it's not alterable by any setting ingame and I've not heard of anybody working out a way of isolating and muting station background noise.

Unfortunately, there are only three volume sliders available to modify the EVE sound: UI sound, Music, and Master volume. The funky background noises are included in the UI sound slider (despite the fact that they have nothing whatsoever to do with the UI! )
I would recommend either turning off the sound entirely, or turning the UI sound down just enough that you can't hear the background noises but can still hear the UI blips and bleeps.
If you are going into PVP, I highly recommend turning the sound off altogether, as it will cause massive lag (because goodness knows it's oh-so-important to tie the sound code to the netcode! )

OMG. All these people posting and not one can give a reasonable answer.
Uncheck "Load Station Environment" on the Generic tab of the Escape window. This prevents you from looking around your ship but also cuts the station audio.

You beat me to it.
There's too many buttons these days. I remember the time when a new button on the UI was a big event, the more excitable pilots would press them just to see what they would do without reading the patch notes.
And then they added Auto Destruct.

Who is doing all the screaming in the Minmatar stations? It sounds like torured slaves, maybe some payback... could be Amarr.
But yes, everybody is right, you should switch off all Eve sound. Crank up the Rammstein or other 'metal', preferrably the ever faithful "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor" and then go solo PvP against all of BoB. Fraps the whole thing of you winning eve and never losing a ship, and posting it on Eve-files.
Because you are a hard Eve player.
And nobody else is.
