When swapping ammo I need to have eft open to show me what ranges to use with what crystles.
having them sorted by range would help rather than this random order. showing optimal and fall beside the name would also be really nice.
Need more-ádecent content a casual player can access in a 1-2h play period that is actually fun and contributes to long term personal and corp goals. This applies to PvE and PvP. |

Old idea that was not implemented, then forgotten. Ammo switching in general should provide more details about this stuff, which can be particularly useful when you are being tracking disrupted, for example. |

This is one of those things that separates the decent pvpers from the great pvpers. I would assume that is ccp's view as well and a reason it hasn't been added. |

Before flying every ship, seasoned PvPers take note of the optimal/falloff of each of their different ammos, and are able to call upon that information in a fight. Newbies are not, and bets are that most of them don't even know where to look up the optimal and falloff ranges in-game if you asked them, nor can they tell whether they're being tracking disrupted at all (the distinction between tracking and optimal range disruption is so far gone that it's not even worth asking).
That info should somehow be more readily available on the HUD. I'm not +1ing this because it would be particularly useful to me, but rather because teaching newbies why their Punisher needs to load Ultraviolet or Standard crystals to hit a far away target gets to be a bit of a headache without them having a proper UI to see what's going on. |

I mess with EFT so much that i can tell you the falloff for almost all minmatar ships, all ammos, with or without tracking enhancers off the top of my head. I don't think this is something ccp are looking for for the new player experience, the game is hard, and i don't think that will ever change. I actually just read the csm meeting notes, and they are working hard on a better NPE(New Player Experience). SoonGäó |

they would if, and I know this is heresy, not read hybrid as blasters only. 1 weapons system rarely used, don't need to know its ranges. Leaves 1 weapons system with short, really short and anything more than 3 feet away is too long ranges to remember lol. |

Most ammo types need an order change actually. Hybrid ammo has the same problem of being all random. |

no.
you should know your ammo types. This is what makes this game what it is currently. Knowledge is power. |

The names of frequency crystals and hybrid charges are already in an order that tells you what they are. Sorry it's not alphabetical to make it absolutely braindead. |

If you're talking about the "wavelength" of crystals or the mass of hybrid charge material, then yes, there is a way to comparatively know which one is longer range.
But just because Microwave is longer range than Ultraviolet doesn't tell me how far MW or UV can actually hit. I've never had to do this myself as I don't use beam lasers, but to optimize beam laser damage I was considering creating a table of my optimal ranges with different crystals and keeping it open on my second monitor. Wouldn't it be nicer to show in-game when switching ammo that UV is "42+5" range and MW is "70+7" range? |

Practise and you'll remember with time. I often fly a Nightmare with 2x tracking computers, changing range scripts around for various damage/tracking and damage overlaps. Don't always have it nailed but never find myself completely at the wrong end.
Don't think I could do the same for other weapon types though due to never using them :/ I guess it's not so much an issue on say minmitar ships when it's just a case of closer you are, the more damage you'll do :p |

Essentially, "HTFU". I can live with that, but new players might not. That's the whole point of this idea.

I wish it were that simple. Sure, if you use autocannons like lasers and don't orbit, then the closer you are the more damage you will do, but the flimsiness and speed of Minmatar ships means you have to orbit and think about your tracking, too. Still, at least we usually don't muck around with a million different ammo types. Or at least, we muck around with them for damage types, and not for range. |

I just remember the optimal for Multifreq, Standard, and Radio, and estimate in my head for the ones in between.
(Unless I'm using T2 Pulse, because then there's only 2 ammo types. )
Before I did this, I just wrote it down in the in-game notepad.
I wouldn't really be too upset if CCP implemented this sort of thing, but I'd vote no if they asked me. All the information is available already. We only have so much screen space, so if something isn't important in realtime (your optimals only change when you refit your ship), I don't want it on my HUD. |

Not sure how long you've played eve for but after a while u memorize what the range is on any crystal. Just takes time and the use of crystals other than Radio and Multifrequency (and their T2 equivalents).
I don't think this is needed unless its a quick feature to implement.
Maybe the answer is to search by module variables instead. So you pick one and it sorts it be damage, falloff, range etc. |

False: tracking disruption. There is a general lack about how they work and a lack of understanding of just how powerful they are. There should be a better way to tell what your optimal, falloff and tracking were changed to when being TD'd. I know I've been screwed over by it a few times, and have screwed over plenty others with TDs. Such a "live" display of range would help with that.
An Arbitrator providing 3x TD support is a wonderful thing. That was the most helpless and sad Cynabal I have ever seen. |

They should change crystals into long, medium and short range variations and get rid of the rest, or alter them with different em/therm damage amounts. Most pilots only use multifreq for close range and scorch/aurora (or t1 equiv) for long, with the occasional standard crystal on hand for a medium distance. There's really little/no incentive to carry anything between these variations. ICRS - Intergalactic Certified Rocket Surgeon |

With pulse lasers, maybe. Have you seen the tracking on Aurora? I wanted to fit up a frigate-sniping Zealot, and I have to use Radio or other ammos to be able to even scratch a moving frigate. |
