Edited by: SublightNova on 05/09/2007 19:36:29 I'm noticing this most in my Harbinger... A lot of times when I should be firing on all lasers, nothing happens... Or anyway, nothing visually happens.. Even though I'm in range and I do get damage reports about my laser hitting something I see nothing happening on-screen.
Also it seems a lot of times I have to turn the ship in order for it to start firing? What's up with that. I'm approaching a target, well in range. I let my beam and pulse lasers fire and only 1 of them actually fires... Until I turn around or go into orbit around the target in which case it also sometimes starts firing my other lasers.
Is this a "feature" or a real bug???
BTW: NICE AVATAR CCP... i'VE ONLY ASKED ABOUT THIS 20 TIMES.

Harbinger has a no-fire zone. If you aproach the target, it won't fire because of this. Still does damage, just no effects. ---

Edited by: SublightNova on 06/09/2007 18:12:56 Explain that to me please... how would turning the ship give me some visuals then? (or I should say sometimes).
Sometimes it does fire and in a similar situation on another target it doesn't????
Definitely a bug... I also hear no sounds a lot of time (since the last patch) when firing (even WITH visuals).
And what's the logic of lasers firing with no visuals but still doing damage? How can they do damage when they are not hitting the target?

Edited by: Grez on 06/09/2007 22:52:54 Because of the placement of the Harbinger's guns (out to the side of the body), it has trouble firing the guns when the target is infront of you.
For example, the gun is on the side of the ship, on the 'wing'. It can pivot 180 degrees on that wing, but anything outside of that and the turret will sit still. This is how the client renders the guns, and is why the guns are placed so that when a target moves out of range of one gun, there's another that's tied to the same gun turret that will fire.
So: For the Harbinger, your first turret slot adds two turrets to the ship model. But because of the placement of the guns on the wings, which potrude from the body, it has a blind spot, wherein non of the guns can pivot and move, and so the client can't render any effects.
You're still firing your guns, it's just the client can't actualy render them because none of the guns are facing the ship.

Thanks Grez! So I assume other ships have similar deadspots then.

I would assume a few ships have blind spots like that, yeah. Harbinger's one of the worst though. ---
