Edited by: Aaro''ne Erviale on 07/09/2007 08:08:37 Dear Devs,
about a year ago I started the EvE Galactic Stock Exchange - http://eve.hubau.be/ to enable players to buy and sell shares in public corporations in EvE through the use of "trusted" brokers.
This has been a succes and has grown beyond my initial expectations.
In order to keep the growth sustainable I need to rework the EGSE website, more precisely I need to make it more secure and to improve the UI for clients and brokers. I'm a real fan of the new API stuff and I definitely going to use it, but came across a short comming: The lack of share transfer logging in the wallet history. This has for long been a idle request from most of the brokers, because at the moment they cannot see from who they received shares.
If and when will this be activated/included (as a Ref. Type "Shares" allready exists in the wallet)? And will this also be included in the API XML exports?

I second this request.
Share transfer logging is essential for offline share transfers. Currently, the only secure method for transferring shares is having a convo open while transferring shares, so the receiver can ensure any shares transferred are owned by the sender.
Access to the share transfer log via the API is a prerequisite for automated deposit processing. Using the API, deposits would be automatically identified and entered into the system without human interaction, thereby greatly increasing availability.
Finally, if the API would allow to perform transfers without having to manually log in to the game itself, even withdrawals can be automated. This would enable RESX to run fully autonomously, without any human interaction*.
Thanks,
Balogh
*: Only dividend payments would need to be entered manually. However, if dividend payment information would be available via the API (or alternatively, evemails), this too could be automated.

It's sad to see that this gets so little attention.
From Market Discussions:

A basic confirmed transfer of shares would be a huge leap forward. Something like the direct trade screen, where both parties confirm the exchange before the transfer actually happens. Having to wire funds/shares in to the ether probably scares away more people than all the IPO scams to date. Once something like this in place, investment gets much easier to sell to Joe Public. Add share transfers to the Wallet Journal, and what we can do is enhanced even more.
There is one way I can see to enhance share transfer functionality with little effort: Make shares contractible items this would get share transfers logged in the wallet journal of choice, and make the exchange a confirmed action. f.ex a buyer would have to surrender the required amount of isk in order to claim their shares. Services like EGSE and RESX would be impacted minimally and trust would still be required for users of both.

I missed this one until I saw your signature.
Yes, at a minimum we need a share transaction log.

I too missed this thread when it was orginally posted.
I would also like to see some improvements to the ingame mechanics of shares.

It seems like a pretty big gap that this information isn't even accessible in-game.

The share and stockmarkets of Eve Corporations total in the trillions of isk. This niche market has grown considerably over the years and now plays host to hundreds of Eve players.
I put a big /signed on this as it has a "seemingly" simple implementation with phenomenal benefits. We design our software around the financial tools provided by you CCP. We want to do the same with shares but are restricted as there is no logging ability.
We have every security and safguard in the game to prevent people being scammed (secure trade windows, escrow confirmation boxes, gtc trading, secure character transfers) but we have no way to secure a share transfer or even have proof of logs.
Please CCP, if there's a single thing you choose to do for the financial community, let it be this.

Signed.
The CCP devs were previously asking for ways to improve the market side of the game. Share transfer logging is long overdue.
And being able to trade via contracts, or in person trade, would be a great addition as well.
