True but of the two who tends to camp FAR more than the other?
Doubtless some pirates will get caught with these things but if you were to bet on which side would rack up the most where would you put your money?

Cao Cao these are legitimate concerns, as for you and your lack of constructive input I'm sure you just want to kill as many people as possible and can't be bothered to be concerned about such a thing as game balance.

If a warp disruptor is put near a gate in empire space and you target it to destroy it, does that mean you intiated aggression and there the uber sentry guns blow your ship out from under you in 2.1 seconds....
If thats true, then hell, all you need is some of the disruptors and an indy to pick up all the loot. ------------------------------------------------ Serve the State Join Channel CAINCOM |

I'm sure anchring them beside a gate will count as an act of agression and the empire guns will kill them, if this isn't the case, it would be an intersting way to remove the superhighway ;)

yeah the small, but med has 15k and large 40k...
a well organised long range ganking squad could effectivly close a system... an attacking force would have to tank and attack the disrupter...but what if there are 2,3,4 of these 40k disrupters? can you place more then 1 next to each other?

The camper has the option of staying WELL outside the disruption field, though.

Oh, and expect an awful lot of people to just log-out as soon as they see a warp disruption field anchored at the gate they just jumped through.
Also, expect the smarter players to get bookmarks which aren't in a straight line from any celestials objects - this means they'll approach from a possibly undisrupted area.

I love the idea, however, these should be able to be destroyed alot easier, 80k hps is a bit excessive and dismisses mixed fleet tactics. I'd only put 2k hps on them IMHO. ______________________

well the problem is you gotta make em strong so your horribly expensive investment doesn't go pop the moment something shoots it, at the same time 80K is a bit excessive as killing the disruptor is a real challenge. As for warping in on campers yu can use your nice little *avoid podd killing zones* on the map. If that doesn't work you can always use the settings in the map to avoid locations. Only the first pilot has no excuse for not knowing they are about to get mssacred. InfiniCorp, Lunatic at Arms

I advice you to do the same.

Why scout?
If you're jumping INTO a system you've got plenty of time to log out. Lame but people WILL do it.
If you're jumping into a system and you see notorious campers in local but NOT at your gate, you'll just leave and find a new route. Or wait until later.
Can't see why warp disruptors are being heralded as the NEW BIG IDEA when, tbh, they're more likely to make people do lame log-off tactics than honest ganking from 70km.

Killing the disruptor is a turkey shoot; if you're targetting it at all, it means the guys who dropped it there already fled or died. So it's only a matter of time; and with a few battleships and tachyons, not even that much time.

People do that all the time as it is.
80k of hitpoints is nutting really, will take a battleship 2-3mins to take out. But why take the warp disruptor out..just nblow up the people who are using it and then catch all the rest of the people heading that way.
As I see it, all these replys to the post are about getting away and not actually fighting...why is that?
What I want to know is how big these things are?
Will you be able to unanchor some1 elses warp disrupter after it has been left idle for a certain time?
What skill lvl of anchoring do you need?
Do you need any other specialised skills?

Probably because, it's only the people who don't want to have to fight, who don't like them. Me, for example.
They're manna from heaven to guys like EVE Marshals, and Cult of Cthulhu - or will be, if they're as hideously expensive as we were led to believe. 13373bi1PIErats spend 30 million ISK locking down a gate, there's three of them there ganking ... Cthulhu move in, the gankers run away or get mown down, then Cthulhu can pick off 30 million of pirates' assets at their leisure.
It'll make for a system where an anti-pirate force is a much more viable possibility than it has been till now; which can only be good for the game.

80k hitpoints is approx. 6 level 2 battleships that aren't recharging shields/armour.
If you take 5 BS into a warp-disrupted area with the intention of breaking up the camp and destroying the disruptor(s), you will likely lose one battleship in doing so, if the campers stick around (and, tbh, if they're at 50km they will).
That's why I think disrupters as npc loot is wrong - something that is dropped virtually guarentees a kill?
Nuh-uh.
That's why I think disrupters having 80k hitpoints is wrong. You may have to destroy several of them.

Why that is? Well it could be some people aren't all about PvP combat, if I warp into a pirate blockade I at least want a theoretical chance to get away, if they're any good and get me fine but with this they don't have to be.

Sorry dude .. .but your chance to avoid the pirate blockade expires *before* you arrive. To get away, don't warp into it.

Part of me is ALL for them but I just dislike the NPC-drop part of it and the hitpoints.
Lower the HP a bit, make them player-produced items only, and make them expensive.
Pirates/alliance warriors will then have to choose CAREFULLY where they are placed and make sure they have a strong maintainable force to guard them AND make use of its properties.
I'd rather not see every Tom, ****, and Harry Bluebeard with their hands on them - give the organised pirates/corporations a reward for multi-tasking (agent missions etc).

Baldour that's some sorry ass attitude, would you be the kid who never died whilst playing wargames?
There will need to be countermeassures or else we can just suggest novabombing drones you send in ahead of you in a system to blast it clean of everything, oh were you there, well you shouldn't have been or else you're dead.
Balance is that a lost concept?

Actually, you can see a small but elite corporation starting up which specializes in taking out the modules.
5 or 6 Scorpions loaded with sensor damps could negate a much bigger force while all shooting the modules....................

There will need to be countermeassures....
The counter measure, is kill the guys camping. Then the disruptors are just so much expensive junk.
The objective of this change was to promote PvP. So complaining that it makes it necessary to PvP is kinda like complaining that you can't play Cluedo on a Monopoly board: that's not what it's for.
Edit: I just remember the alternative countermeasure. Since the gankers are, we assume, sitting outside their own warp disruptor fields.. well, they're too far away to webify you, so you MWD out of the field and warp away.
That should still work. I think.

In case you haven't noticed the pirates are all banding together in rather large groups, I find it hard to see where a small corporation will be able to amass an equal fleet to take on the 10 or so battleships that undoubtably will be working one of these modules.
You're saying the countermeassure is to join up with a larger corporation, then why didn't CCP just make it simple and let you choose from the 2 sides this evolutionary logical step will lead to in the end.
This will be a huge ****-up mark my words, the first day these things are hitting the market I'm not moving below .5, i'll just sit back and watch the lights lit up.
