well theres some out there defending the programers like its not there fault for the crash, but in reality it is compleatly there fault. I play 2 other mmo's and never have been down more then the time it takes to load the update. real companys have back up servers and shadow systems to pretest on.

And yes Bradley I agree this is a very good game- and normal downtime for maint. is a good thing. What I was implying to is the fact for the last few months the game has been crashing a fair amount. And no I donot expect to lose my ship ( I hope ) but I also have a right to be a little ****ed, and I also realize that we will not get anything out of all this DT but OOPS. So O well. I am just blowing off some steam as I see a lot of people doing- no big deal. But don't expect me to have to like it.

There you are, I told you it would be getting done as fast as they can! Starting up 9 mins. Now we hope that the game is fixed again. ~

Edited by: Ushima Koranaki on 11/09/2007 23:04:20 After the years i fail to see why people complain so much everytime hardware fails or a code has a bug.
Ask youreself honestly. Would ure PC never take a dump in any piece of hardware when it runs 23/7 365 days a year? Would 100k pages of straight typing of you not have a single typo? A typo as simple as accidently pushing . instead of , (just an example) already does make a nasty burp once the line is used in some process.
You get the ,in my humble opinion, best sci-fi MMO there currently is and hopefully will be along with 2 expansions a year (for free). And in this case not just 100 new totally generic missions or quests. Totally new UIs, features and graphics just to name 3.
If you like paying for expansions that are still a LOT more buggy than the ones CCP does for free basically. Realy, play WoW, Everquest or SWG where they dont care jack about the customers needs.
If you find the perfect thing some people keep asking for over all the years, be sure to tell me, i¦d go sell my soul for the license of that game.
Take it from someone whos getting several beta invites per month, plays MMOs for 7 years. (dont bother asking what, thyre all crap compared to eve) There is no such thing as what certain customers keep asking for. The perfect thing.

And yes I got a Hulk floating somewhere in space at the moment-and if I lose it I want it and all my tech II tech installed on it back! And with all the blasted downtime we been having I think a week of free game play "at least" should be in order! Have a good day if you can. 23 hours a day- What a joke!
A player of this game for over 2 years and I still have yet to have as much problem as I have the last two days. That's just fact. This is a stable well managed MMO and I'm very glad to put in my 130 bucks a year to be able to ENJOY it.
If your ship is lost, petition it, you'll get it back.
And if you think this is a lot of downtime, you really should try other games. This is actually pretty good, and two days of downtime don't mean a week of free game time. In their EULA it VERY CLEARLY states that they are not responsible for reimbursing game time lost to downtime. So, you are getting what you agreed to get. CCP is a very good company, and if this downtime becomes vast extended, They very well may start providing free game time but don't expect it, as you aren't entitled to it.
23 hours a day is not a joke, it is the norm. They had server issues, they threw out a patch to try and fix it, the patch ended up revealing the real problems, they are fixing them. This kind of thing DOES happen, to all internet companies. You ever have a website go out on you? Ever pay for webhosting to have it prove to only be up 3 weeks one month? This is called COMPUTING and it is a fact of life in a technological world. CCP is working hard to bring Eve back, they aren't just sitting there laughing at us. They are a good company who cares about their customers.
Thanks for the reply - you answered my question as to if this is normal- I was wondering why so many people were getting defensive without explaining. Seems like you all quite like CCP? by the way I googled "eve online" and "downtime" while trying to figure out if this was my problem or a server problem and watched some guy (Dentara Rast) confessing on video to ripping of a bunch of Eve people for 8B isk. Funny thing is, this guy is from my home town judging by his accent- did he do a lot of damage?

Not sure why people are getting on their high horse about something that comes with the territory. I'm very new to online gaming so nothing to base my expirence against but computers crash! The guys at the other end wont be sat on their arses. I'd say sit tight it'll be back. If you lost a ship you'll get it back.

A dev said in help chat that a primary domain controller went down.
But it's down again. Sigh. Maybe that's what happened this time too. This gets old real quick.

I'm seeing a lot of graphical anomalies following the patch. Such as words floating in space, planets skinned with station graphics, items in hangar or equipped showing a fuzzy blob rather than the item.
Anyone else having these problems? In my experience I'd have to say that this has been one of the worst patches since Exodus, compounded by the server issues leading up to it.
System: Dual core P4 3200, 2g highspeed RAM, 1.72/TB storage (220g dedicated drive for Eve), 8800 GTX, dual monitor.

Does one have to lay eggs to say that one is rotten? We don't have to be better than them - we pay them to do the best.
While I agree that on patch day there often is trouble, and by now has to be expected(but by no means accepted), they could at least have given a good advance warning. A friend of mine has lost several hours of skill time because of that. (I wonder, if one would bring this up as argument for skill queue - would the answer be "read the website" or "set a long skill on patch day"?...) -------------------------------------------------- I'm a rich person. well as far as i think sometimes eve has problems with patches and unscheduled downtime, they try to fix it asap. if you loose anything due to it i think your petition won't go unanswered( but yeah petitions take quite some time in few cases). People complaining on forums about it, they have every right to do so, people defending CCP it's their wish. the thing which i don't don't understand why some players keep mentioning other games and saying if you don't like here go there and play that, hello who are you to say which game one should play. Oh yeah ,
petition and they will replace your looses??
my petition from yesterday got a REALLY fast response time : " Hi,
Thank you for contacting us. We're sorry for the late reply.
After a careful review of your case, however, we are unable to verify your loss in our logs as being abnormal in anyway, because of this we are unfortunately unable to reimburse your ship. Actually there could be other possible reasons for what you experienced, such as localized ISP problems, software conflicts, a corrupt cache and so on and so forth. All issues we can not verify and must refuse. Sorry.
Just let us know if you still have any questions though. Thank you.
Best Regards, GM LionFaithful EVE Online Customer Support "
HOW can they not verify that the game crashed what , 4 times just yesterday??

Despite all the issues with sudden, unexpected downtimes, there is one small thing I really love about the update.
Now it is possible again to zoom in on your Fighters and Drones at a really close distance, something that was not possible for a long time.
Watching these little critters circling through the sky and tearing things on apart on my command, I had missed for far too long.
So thanks again CCP for fixing the camera.
