Hello community!
After suffering a skilltime loss because of a nodecrash, I had some ideas that I just want to introduce to the rest of the community.
Nodecrashes are a bit nasty, but since they are not happening that often, it isnt that much of a problem to me. But loosing half a day or more in skilltime just because of this is really a pain.
One solution is the skill queue that is being talked about in another post. I basically like the idea. But skill queuing still does not give u access on skills of your character trapped by a nodecrash. Full remote access from another char in your account would solve this.
Also CCP could add a "stop-all-skills-running-in-this-account"-button. This would not give you access on the trapped character but at least offer the chance of activating a long running skill on another character, so skilltime is not completely lost.
at the moment we cannot activate skills because it keeps on saying to stop the skilling on the other char that cant be logged in because of a stupid nodecrash.
Just a workaround for nodecrashes Please discuss! THX

I am not sure what 'nodecrashes' are, but I do agree that having the ability to change your character's skill training would be great.
One can of course plan ahead and change your training to a long skill training before you leave for work (where you are not allowed to have EVE client installed (and that is understood)), but what if you go on holiday, go to hospital, or something else?
It would be nice to change your skill training online (once or twice a day or once every hour would be fine). You can access your character's details already, please add 'Change Skill training' to it.
If there are other discussions about this already, please direct me there...

Would have to admit, that the My Character on the left pannel of the web site which allows me to view my characters skills would be really cool if it had a feature to change a skill.
I could do that at work
Even if a nodecrash happens (or whatever happens that I cant get on with the client and have to go to work), I could access from work via the web when the system is back up and set a skill and not loose as much skill training time.
I'm sure some ASP programmer could add it since its just a database update of a character you just read from the database to display the skills.
Cool feature request

The OP describes the following situation If I understood him correctly: * Character finishes Training * EVE crashes in a way that only affects some characters
I think that's a relatively rare condition to warrant the implementation of a "remote skill access"
The the effect of the later suggestion of a "stop skill training" button could be more easily achieved if the game would just automatically deactivate the training on Character A if a training is started on Character B... The message displayed would be changed to something very similar as the "switch skill training" message...
The suggestions in the above answer posts have been more than sufficiently discussed in other threads. ---------------------------------------------- The glass is neither half full nor half empty. It's just twice as big as it need to be... |

Nodecrashes basically mean that you loose connection to the game and cannot log in that one character. All other characters can be logged into the game.
I dont know, if accessing skills from web is possible (or wanted by ccp) at all. Although it would be a nice addition.
The main problem im talking about is loosing all access to the leveling character when it is stucked because of a nodecrash. If this happens while you are running a skill with like 3h left and also wanna go to bed because its already late, theres is no way to activate skills on another character in the same account.
Either web access or access from another char in the same account would be a great help to avoid loosing skilltime because of those nasty nodecrashes. And if this remote access just means being able to stop the running skill, so you are able to start another skill on the active (logged in) char, it would be a great help imho. Players would be able to work around skilltimeproblems by themselves instead of having to petition and instead of having the GMs telling that they cant help with that. We wont get frustrated and our beloved GMs save some time!

This is not meant as an alternate to skill queuing. See it as an addition. And Skill queuing wont help as well if 2 short skills are queued. You do not get a warning before nodecrashes. It just happens.
