You would think that from the 145 mil usd that ccp make every month they could at least hire some real it professionals and not the 14 year olds that they employ atm and of course some decent it equipment (Servers/ software and the like)
Cause they dont what does that suggest...tight fisted F%ú"ers

Feed the hampsters to the cats because they don't seem to be getting the job done. Replace them with some other animal, perhaps a ferret. They seem like lively critters. --------------------

i shall point out the EULA... which i gather most people do NOT read upon accepting it... # 12 NO WARRANTIES The Software, System, Game and all Game Content, and all other services and material provided in connection therewith, are provided "AS IS," with all faults, and without warranty of any kind. You assume all risk of use and all risk associated with accessing the System and playing the Game.
CCP disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation the warranties of merchantability, fitness for particular purpose and non-infringement. There is no warranty against interference with your enjoyment of the Game. CCP does not warrant that the operation of the System or your access to the System, or that your use of the Software, will be uninterrupted or error-free, nor that the System or Software will be compatible with your hardware and software.
While CCP attempts to have the System available at most times, CCP does not guarantee that the System will always be available, or that the System will not become unavailable during Game play. The System may become unavailable for a number of reasons, including without limitation during the performance of maintenance to the System, for the implementation of new software, for emergency situations and due to equipment or telecommunications failures.
now, stop asking for game time, stop asking for skill points. "Trolls back to the bridge!"

Well thank god IÆm out on the beer tonight. Seems I would be getting no play.
I know a little bit about SQL so I know its not easy fix, but is this the No1 focus for CCP at the moment? I mean IÆd rather have the server up than some gimmicky bull**t where I get to walk around a station, or patch after patch, nerfing this and boosting that. I know dev work and support are different creatures, but is this issue at the forefront of the companies thinking?
Even if CCP came out and said the server would be down for 72 hours or something similar (but that it would allow you to resolve the issue once and for all) IÆd be happier than playing Russian logon roulette.
All in all I find Eve the most enjoyable game I have ever played, but lag and downtime restrict it to being a great product and not a fantastic one.

Not based on the EULA no.
But based on maintaining customer loyalty and community relations... -- Users are like a virus - each causing a thousand tiny crises until the host finally dies. |

Is this the whining forum ore wtf are all those people doing ? just stop whining, CCP is working on it an i think that they do there best, a cluster isnt easy to manage and if you have an database crash they have horrible problems atm and running throught the Log and trining to fix it.

1. Are you going to return the lost time that YOU (CCP) have taken from players? 2. When are you going to employ professional IT Engineers who can sort out these situations (unlike the muppets you have now!) 3. When are you going to shard you servers? 4. When are you going to own up to you mistakes and faulty IT equipment (Lag, desync, extended dt and the like.)
1. EULA covers them, so they can tell us to swivel if they wish 2. Do you have any idea what sort of system they are running, it is one of the most complex setups in the world so even with professionals there will still be errors.. 3. they do this (WoW style) and alot of ppl will leave.. that is one thing that EVE has over other games.. it's all one server (or shard) 4. they have admitted they messed up stuff.. they bought more hardware etc.. if you read back through the whole thread you'll see they removed what they thought to be faulty hardware.. it wasn't.. now also take into account this game has been running for 4 years and the software is old and outdated they are trying to milk as much as poss from it, whilst also writing new coding for a ne release at year end..
now I am not a fanboi or whatever you wanna call, infact I am also getting very irritated about these crashes, 3 days I haven't been able to do jack as anytime i set off to rat mine mission run etc.. the servers crash.. but I know CCP are trying to locate he fault.

EULAs aside EVE is a product, we are customers and CCP want (well, they do if they have any sense) to maintain people's goodwill.
The customer isn't always right, but the customer is always the customer.

Hey Wrangler is there anyway we can get somemore technical information about the crashes it seems like all thats been said so far is that there is a problem (duh) and that the DEVs are looking into it with some (outside help) / probably microsoft seems to be peoples general belief. Anyways I mean by now something had to be figured out and even if it hasn't I think the community has the right to know that as well. At a certain point there needs IMO to be a accountability to the players and I think this repeat crashing is reaching that point.

Originally by: El'essar Viocragh Wasn't answered yesterday, don't expect it to be answered today, but why does CCP staff always talk about "failover" when they mean "break"?
Failover systems are built/designed to provide uninterrupted service. Of course it can go wrong every once in a while, but hardly every single time it is needed. That ain't failover.
It looks like they actually mean "fall over" and not "failover" ... Well not everyone has a strong IT background. ;-P
isn't it funny how some people advocate both GTC<=>ISK trades and EVE being superior due to its cruelty and costly losses, when they use the former to circumvent the latter?

That has to be the funniest error message in the game yet. Just change it to "Business as Usual"...
According to EVE Mon it just dumped again. And just this moment went back into restarting.
I bristle at the effects to that database.

Sigh you would think after 2 consecutive nights of Epic Fail they would perhaps have fixed it, seeing as they are a company providing an ONLINe game, but I guess thats just a myth. Oh well back to CSS.
