Just wondering if the guys at CCP are running our gametime right, biggest super computer in the industry but is it using 100% renewable energy - u can get this in the UK easy and we all know why its important now. Our gaming machines run of powefull power supplies 500w plus etc, dont u think we should all switch and make the power companies do what we want?

Everyone knows the servers are steampowered.
Hence the long start-up time each evening :P -

/me sighs....a tree hugger? If eve isnt green will you go play in traffic? TBH, its not their responsibility to "go green". Thats like you telling the rest of the world they should be driving solar powered cars because youre worried about whether or not the environment is being treated the right way. Its a god damn video game...give it a rest. Try your "SAVE THE WORLD, HUG A TREE" campaign somewhere else.

I think the problem is that we cut down all their trees to hug. My attitude about "going green" has changed a lot of the last few years.
Although I do not think it is completely feasable to use 100% renuable energy at the moment in all areas, it does anoy me to think about the amount of coal power plants that still operate around the world.

coal is cheap, domestic and available atm which is why it is popular. here in the US for example it is something like 250 years of coal left.

Although I won’t claim to know the inner workings of the national power grid, surely buying 100% eco friendly electricity is just a pointless endeavour and a rip-off anyway, since that power is being generated and used by someone regardless weather or not you are specially paying for it, and even if you do specially pay for it, its not like they are running that “green” power and only that power to you on its own cable that’s separate from the grid, weather you pay for it or not you are still using ~60% coal ~25% nuclear ~10% gas etc/whatever, because that is what is feeding the grid.
Its all well and good paying to support an idea, but does it really make any difference given the green energy is going to be used regardless of weather you pay for it or not since its going to be connected to the grid anyway -

Edited by: Kirjava on 14/09/2007 20:27:17 Tranquility is in the middle of London.... Prove to me how you can differentiate the electrons from the nuclear stations and the wind farms - which take ****loads of energy to build might I add - then I swear I will donate 5M isk to your account. Thankyou. Incidentaly - does CCP spending their money on renewable electricty being the "right way" to spaned money you spend to play the game make them spend money wrongly if the server is fueled by nuclear?

we need to pollute more. more particles in the air the more clouds form. the more clouds that form the more light that is reflected back into space. more light reflected back to space, less heat on earth.
LETS ALL POLLUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Green energy" is a scam. Everybody who doesn't get that deserves to fall for the "send me ISK and I'll send twice that amount back" in Jita local.
We WILL eventually use up ALL non-renewable resources. The sooner we run out of them, the sooner we'll make the "full switch". Promoting "green power" now (through financial subsidies) only delays the inevitable, by reducing the incentive of making it more cost-effective now, to compete with the rest of the available alternatives financially. _

If it took dumping 1000 gallons of toxic chemicals into some fresh water supply daily to make the game run without debilitating lag during large alliance fleet battles, I would be okay with that.

make sure you don't heat your food with gas, choose a dirtier burning fuel.
that and more carbon in the air results in more plankton in the ocean, and more food for fishies. more fishies and less worry about over fishing.
and if global warming does happen iceland seems to be a prime place for beach front property in 1000 years

I could care less if eve ran off of nuclear waste; going green just prolongs the time it takes to get to the point where humans have no other option than to live in space :p

QFT. If anyone is that worried about the greenhouse effects of playing Eve on their PC, there is one simple cure.
PERMANENTLY TURN OFF YOUR PC AND ANY OTHER POWERED DEVICE.
There you go, you can now enjoy your green lifestyle.
