Here's an idea I thought of when I was thinking back to the "No Other Destiny" vid. (My favorite to date.)
Currently I don't subscribe to EVE Voice. I think it's an awesome idea, I just don't have enough reason to pay for it quite yet. But here's an idea that WOULD make me subscribe to it.
In the No Other Destiny vid near the beginning where it was going through the passing shots of the different faction's ships, when you got to the Minmatar BC/Command Ships the vid has comm chatter in the background. Neat effect. It's too bad you don't get sound effects like that in game. And that's when I started thinking.
What if while using EVE Voice while people talked you could hear contextual sfx in the background depending on the situation. Sit in Jita and hear commerce and stock updates in the background when you make a deal with a buddy. Shield impacts and klaxons blaring when you're relaying orders in the midst of battle. Sensor pings breaking erie silence when your cloaked scout comms back with a sitrep. Big possibilities.
It would add SO MUCH to the atmosphere, the best realistic idea I can think of toards that effect, at least until Ambulation comes out. |

That would be pretty cool. A voice changer, or just some simple effects would also be really neat.

When they demonstrated the tech behind eve voice at one of the trade shows (can't remember which one) they did demonstrate voice changing effects. Just hasn't made it into the eve interface yet. Would be neat though.

Edit: As long as it's optional.

Jupp. They spoke about that on the fanfest too.
But honestly, additional audio clutter would not be overly popular with a lot of people. Lots of players already loathe "the voice" and warp sound effects (and prolly more too). While It doesn't bother me much, I don't really need more of it either... ---------------------------------------------- The glass is neither half full nor half empty. It's just twice as big as it need to be... |

I would not mind the Warp sound effect if I could turn it down without turning the rest of the game sound down or off. The only way to control it is through the master volume control. So I think as long as people have some control over whether they hear environmental effects from voice it's a great idea. I think it would greatly increase immersion if you're deep into roleplay!
