Well it's the same engine. Would take no work at all to get one working in it.
Still, aimbots aren't really that common in Steam anymore cus of their rather good anti-cheat software. ---

Just to avoid confusion, people will be able to play TF2 BETA tomorrow *if* they've pre purchased The Orange BoxÖ off steam.
But yeah, preloading now, can't wait! -

Bleh, 50 bucks for Orange Box when I already have gladly paid full for HL2 and EP1(just went up to 19.99 from 9.99 a few weeks ago!). I'm gunna wait til the prices drop. It shoulda been no more than 35 maybe 40 for EP2, Portal and TF2. Dirty dirty Valve.

Edited by: Erotic Irony on 17/09/2007 03:13:56 Is there a comprehensive class and weapon breakdown somewhere? I'm really only interested in seeing the revised pyro, the new medic mechanic is simply too absurd for me. This game was hella fun a decade ago but if its still a loose, arcadey shooter, my money is on COD4. ___ Eve Players are not very smart. Support Killmail Overhaul

About ten years. I remember when I got HL in '97 or '98 (can't remember) they were hyping it as imminent back then. It's almost as bad as DNF, except TF2 is actually coming out, even if it has been radically redesigned.
I used to get It. Then It changed. Now I don't even know what It is.

HL2 and EP1 are free with the package. EP2 and TF2 each cost $30 alone and Portal $20. Yup, complete rip off! --------

EP2, TF2 and Portal cost $80 separately because Valve is trying to sell you the same thing for $50 (Orange Box). They know full well that a large majority of the people (PC platform) who are getting EP2 + goodies already have atleast HL2. And what's even sweeter for them is: how many EP1 owners play through the game and say: meh, I don't care much for EP2? Nearly none.
Not only that, they're encouraging you to give away HL2 and EP1 ... leading to more people who want EP2 and thus have to buy the Orange Box.

I'm looking forward to playing the beta. Ordered the Orange Box and pre-loaded TF2 on Saturday.
This morning I found out Fortress Forever, which is the player community version of TFC on Steam was released this weekend. I downloaded it and it's definately a lot of fun. Worth trying out while you're waiting for the beta to be released anyways.
CSNation.net has a quote suggesting that the beta wont be released until late Monday.

If Portal is really worth 10, TFC2 worth 15, and EP2 worth 20 (being generous here, EP1 sold for 10 at one point, so it could actually be 10-15) then I should pay 45 separately, or 35-40 to have them as a package. Valve selling something for 10 dollars more is Valve nickel and diming. And that's something that used to be a solely exclusive to the airline and communications industry. Not the company that brought us HL1.

You're getting three games, each of which have been in development for nearly two years, each includes substantial upgrades to the source engine, and you're complaining about paying 15 dollars for each of them? EP1 sold for $20 when it was released, TF2 is worth $20 (both DoD and CS sold for $20 released) and Portal has more content than EP1 had. No other company in the industry would sell them this cheap, stop complaining. --------

when you say boldly, no other company would do such a thing, you are suggesting they are unlike other self-interested for profit companies which is silly because they would never behave in a way that would be against their interests. I'm saying your loyalty is misplaced and exaggerated.
I don't really see the "good deal" advantage you're describing anyway as portal looks more like a tech demo sold as a FPS sans multiplayer or long term playability, the episode packs are a marketing strategy and I wonder how many hours you can squeeze out of them before you regret buying them given the availability of MMO subscriptions not to mention budget console titles. ___ Eve Players are not very smart. I'm suggesting they aren't self-interested huh? I'm suggesting they're doing something against their interests? I boldly said it? Enjoy reading into things much? For the amount of development put into the games and the varied content, this is cheap and a comparison is non-existent. Portal's just a tech demo fps? It's a puzzle game using an FPS engine. Episode content just a gimmick? I get more enjoyability out of a single episode than a month of any MMO. Actual craft is put into the episodes unlike what you receive from another month in any MMO. Budget console titles? Could care less about consoles and it doesn't change that those very games cost more than this entire package does when they were originally released. --------
