Has anyone else experienced that the API changed in some way in the last 24hours?
Since Monday 17th September, I'm receiving an error message retrieving the API xml for: http://api.eve-online.com/eve/AllianceList.xml.aspx http://api.eve-online.com/map/Sovereignty.xml.aspx
ERROR MESSAGE: msxml3.dll error '800c0005' The system cannot locate the resource specified.
Google reveals that this problem could be related to either: A) The wrong .DLL version, however: - this doesn't appear to be the case, as opening the .xml files in a browser, saving them as .xml on my own web site, and calling the copy on my own site works fine.
B) the api.eve-online.com site not returning the XML, however: - The API is returning the .xml files to the web browser no problem - AFAIK the API for these two doesn't require authentication
Any suggestions on where to look next are appreciated.

Is this a local error message you are receiving? Or is it an exception the API is throwing?
Both of those require no authentication and can be called as is.

Thanks Ray and Verite.
The problem appears to be on the hosting company (fasthosts.co.uk), with all outgoing connections being screwed at the moment. Scarily enough their support site is down and they just got their status page up - which marks the issue as complete. ofc. I erm .. asked them to at least report the status correctly.
For now, I'll just have to copy the XML onto the local server and run the scripts. Updating the outposts is currently manual anyway, so not so horrific in terms of changing the daily grind.
Mean-time I think I'll look for a back-up hosting company and take-over my own DNS!

I had issues with fasthosts, so moved over to servage.net. The best hosting company I've ever been with. It's like they care about you. Do yourself a favour and switch.

Thanks for the tip. See the section in bold for a laugh.

Thanks for your e-mail.
We are aware that recent changes to the network configuration of our shared hosting platform have caused a number of our customers problems, specifically in relation to connections from their websites to external providers of services such as XML interfaces and feeds. Our network team are currently preparing a fix for this problem which will be applied to the platform as soon as testing is complete. We hope that this work will be completed today.
We apologise for the inconvenience that this has caused. We advise any of our customers who have pages dependent on external services which are currently inaccessible to consider temporarily removing these dependencies.
Kind regards, -- Customer Support Fasthosts Internet Ltd.

Dear Fast hosts customer support,
Thank you for your email. I have identified a work-around to remove the problem of fasthosts accounts with web sites that have dependencies to external services, that I believe will also work for your other customers; Please cancel my account and refund the remainder of the year-balance, as I have arranged hosting with another provider.
Sincerely,
