Edited by: Niques Leutre on 19/09/2007 02:41:35 After skimming the market one day I came across the Sacrilege. Now looking at its stats I was a bit surprised; it has more cap than just about any other HAC, AND damage resists, AND zero-energy drain weapons. That must equate to insanely tough tanking capacity, right?
The reason this surprised me is because I've seen almost none of these around the EVE universe. I mean, it uses Heavy Assault missiles, but are these weapons really so horrible that it's worth dumping such a potentially awesome tank for? Has anyone tried and seen how these things actually perform in the field, or is everyone simply scoffing at the combination of short range, armor tanking, and missile weapons without even trying it?
Since searching "Sacrilege" turned virtually no results other than [WTB] and [WTS] threads, I thought I'd start this one. Any thoughts on these aw(some/ful) vessels, or anyone flying one of these brutes have any notes on their handling in either PvP or PvE? ___________________________________

The thing with the Sacrilege is that it only got its current configuration in the latest large patch a couple weeks ago (along with the other Khanid ships), so it's a completely new ship to fly for anyone who flies it. I trained for Tech 2 Heavy Assault Missiles with the idea of trying out the new Sacrilege since I've had Amarr Cruiser V forever but no desire to train for energy guns, but I haven't really had the opportunity yet... --- High quality pics of ALL EVE ships! |

Go to 0.0, meet good Sacri pilot, cry that he owned you. They are VERY good ships, just not many people with skills to use em to fullest atm (caldari players need to train amarr cruiser 5 + some armor/nano skills, amarr players need to train missiles)

nano skills forgive me for my ignorance but what skills might you be referring to? I am caldari about to complete amarr cursier 5 in a few days and need guidance

Actually , thought this was a new ship for Mini Pilots since they already have the Missiles and Armor Skills and just need to train Amarr.

Another Khanid thread? =\
Yeah, they're pretty awesome tanks. The Sac is pretty good nano'd too. Not many of us could fly Caldari and Amarr effectively, so there aren't a lot of people flying them around right now. Personally I'm still screwing around with possible setups...

I'm sure you'll start to see a lot more of them as Amarr HAC pilots put some SP into missiles. It's a fine ship. I've got one sittin around. It's just I can't do much with it till I beef out my HAM skills.

They're all good except the Vengeance, which sucks because it's an interceptor that either has to gimp its speed or close to web range to do any damage.

You mean the Malediction (inty) or the assault ship (vengeance)

Not all of them, some Amarr pilots have allready millions in missiles from what i hear
Oh, and the Sacri is great now, easy to fit and quite a few setups that will work. Speed, armor tank, heavy assault, shield tank, heavy missiles..........

Bolded out thing you might have missed. I myself have all missile support skills at lvl4 (+ specialisations at lvl3 for rocket/light/HAM), tho given time ill up em to lvl 5/4 (rapid, missile velocity and flight time 5, spec + warhead ups lvl4).
As for vengeance? I love it. its 10x better than Craptribution. Maybe damage isnt the best in the game but has insanely good tank. Ah i dont use it for PvP :) AFs + PvP = dead meat.

I love my Sacrilege. Need to work on the HAM skills a bit but even at HAM 4 it works fine. Not PvPed with it yet but run cosmos 3 and some 4s in it without trouble.
Perma runs a dual MAR2 tank with seriously high resists. DPS with HAMS is adequate but I need to get the range up.
For PvP I see this being really sweet ship and pretty straightforward to fit. No nanos for me tho, not my style. Something like this should work.
High - HAMS (t2 for preference with faction missiles)and whatever Mids - AB/MWD, Cap Booster (big cargo bay means lots of charges for a cruiser sixed ship), Web and scram Lows - Dual MAR2, Thermal Hardener, Eanm2, DC2.
Vengeance is ok, nothing special but no real problems. Malediction will work as a tackler if you don't care about doing damage. Damnation has the potential for a passive armour tank bordering on the ridiculous but not great DPS (nice in it's true role as a flagship tho.)

The graphs you mention didnt account for the 50% boost to HP across the board.
Amarr were fine, since they could still kill you fast enough before cap ran out.

Been using 1 for a few weeks now and its been a breath of fresh air to me have ham specialization lvl4, and all back up missile skils to 5's it tanks great, can sit solo under sentry for over 30mins, And can carry 2k of each missile type and still hold 15 800's
still tryin different fits but all seem to be ok like the ship so much im doin hac5 now
Only real prob is the ham damage, Its not great. Hams really need a little damage boost imo, the range on them is fine though. as the damage aint great you really do need to use CN missles, or DG, but they are harder to find than rockinhorse sh*t..

I hope you know that sac is one of hardest hitting HACs out there? 3x BCU + CN ammo + drones (maxskill) you are looking at constant 550 dps (of which 490 dps is of any damage type you want).

3 BCU means no real tank. Unless you want to nano it -even then it limits your options. Cetainly no use for tanking sentrys as the previous poster was doing.
However with no BCUs and a proper tank, 5 HAMs do ok but not spectacular damage, which is as it should be (although 5-10% more would not hurt).

thats the downside of gank setups. and now compare the gank sac to the gank zealot, who does more dmg, tanks better and run out of cap faster sacrilege > zealot in evey aspect

Since the nos nerf Ive swapped from the curse to the sacri, and Im training up HAMs now. From tests on sisi Ive found it to be a pretty useful little ship - a good 'all rounder' and one that can tank a fair bit of damage.
That all said if you can't use HAM II missiles you'll find the dps and range pretty restrictive and its a case of fighting inside web range a lot of the time. Also like most amarr ship hulls its either tank and no real dps or go for gank (and die swiftly).
Some options Ive tried so far have included a med neut & tracking dist which seems to work well.
Hope that helps.

Sacrilege has awesome tank but the DPS is rather poor. You really need maxed out skills and be using heavy assault missles to cause max damage. That being said, it is a fun ship with lot's of options for fittings so it makes me happy. In my opinion it is one of the best, if not the best heavy tackler in the game at the moment.
The Damnation is a joke. The tank is even better than the Sac but the DPS is that of a Caracal. I am not exaggerating, it is, just with better range. I know it's main purpose is to hand out bonuses but none of it's counterparts have DPS that crappy, not even close. I think it needs a bigger drone bay, maybe 125m^3 so you can actually do something useful with it other than sit at a pos handing out bonuses.
What playing Amarr feels like.

Quote: fit a dual armor rep tank with 1 bcu und some resis and you reach 420 dps with faction HAMs which is good in my eyes.
This is exactly my fit and, although I've only had a little time lately with it in 00, have enjoyed it quite a bit. With a MWD it isn't the fastest thing out there by any means but you can actually close range with it. Granted, HAMs work best against Cruiser+ sized ships, but that's not bad since that's all you're going to catch up with anyway :)
I have also sported Tech2 Javelins in mine and get a range greater than my ability to lock (undampened) so I can participate even in some longer ranged fights (60+km).
My missile skills aren't the best... 4 in the supports and HAM Spec 3 atm (working on 4) but I carry CN and Tech2 Javelin HAMs and have found the damage to be pretty good for small gangs. I haven't had to test my tank yet... seems most people choose to attack something else first ;)

I'm a Minnie specced pilot and i trained Amarr cruiser 5 a while ago to use the curse (which got nerfed about a week after i trained it so i never flew one).
I got a sac instead since i already have T2 HAMs and i found that its tank is sick (800+ DPS tanked for about 10 minutes) but its low DPS sucks hard, about 300 DPS with CN HAMs.
However, even with 2 armor rigs it still does a healthy 1600ms, so i reckon, as nasty as it sounds, a nano-sac is easily possible, you just need pretty pimped missile range skills since i'm only hitting about 11kms with mine atm (with dire support skills), and you need at least 15km or so for it to be viable.

You can bring the Damnation into engagements and dare people to shoot at you. Anyone that takes the bait is wasting their time and is not shooting at someone they might actually kill. If they primary you, your team should be able to demolish them before you die. You can also fit it out as a heavy tackler that's impossible to get rid of.
The biggest problem with the Damnation is that armor gang mods are terrible. Nobody active tanks in real fights, active tanking means you get primaried and die. 2/3 of the gang mods do nothing on passive tanks, and the third one will be stacking nerfed with the resist mods they're already fitting.
Anyone ever considered fitting the Damnation out as a heavy tackler + insane tank + interceptor killer with small turrets? I think it might be viable.
4x Medium Beam Laser II 3x Gang Mod
MWD II Med Electrochem Cap Booster Web Scram
2x 1600mm RT plate 2x EANM II Thermic Hardener II Damage Control II
2x Trimarks
It still goes 900m/sec and can go that speed pretty much forever, and medium beams have excellent tracking. it's a heavy tackler that's impossible to get rid of that can also snipe intys/frigates at 30km with Aurora or kill close range ones with Amarr Navy MF.

Diction makes a reasonable inty hunter/anti tackler, under a 'if it can catch it, it can kill it' mentality. I've also found that javlins work very well for killing drones while tackling for a gang. Also useful for wearing down cruisers solo(it works, bring a drink though it'll take a while).
Until I started flying like an idiot this week i'd made it though a war or two with no losses working as primary tackler.

The curse is still awesome and since the nos nerf ship price and nos price have dropped, gotta love when a ships not FOTM anymore :D You can fit the malediction like the crow with missiles if you don't want to get in rocket range, it works well as a tackler. SAC I've yet to take out since it was twice the cost of the curse last time I looked.
