The current gang warp starts the warp sequence at the same time (immediatly). I would like to have a new gang warp option that synchronizes the warp in a way, so that
- faster ships hold until slower ships are ready to warp - the ships fly in warp together - the speed in warp is limited by the slowest ship. - they come out of warp at the same time.
Perhaps introduce a new kind of Warfare Link Module for Command Ships to activate such an Synchronous Gang/Wing/Fleet Warp. E.g. a tech I and a tech II: Wing Warp Drive Synchronizer Fleet Warp Drive Synchronizer

DOH, it's called align your fleet before warping. Gang warp goes at the speed of the slowest ship. There is less than no need for a module to do this.

Please tell me: Is "Align Ships" already in game or is it an open feature request ?

Edited by: Jaketh Ivanes on 19/09/2007 11:38:41 It is very much in the game.. FC uses the "Align to" command, and every one aligns to that celestial object.
Tools was provided by the launch of EvE
EDIT: To clarify, the "Align to" command was not provided at launch, but neither was FC or the fleet system. People were still able to act like a fleet

does the align to feature actually turn the ships or is it just a marker? i havent tried it

Yes, but thats the players job Personally I would hate to be in a fleet, where the FC has complete control (or close to it) of my ship. Its already annoying when he hits the regroup command (that makes my ship "approach" his ship). It is enough for him to give commands, we, as a part of the fleet, has to follow them but the game shouldn't force us to do it.
Imagine logging in, joining a fleet and then it becomes a TV show. *shudder*

There is a mechanism that would allow you to do this, already in game. Send a scout ahead of the bulk of your ships, and assign them the gang lead. They can then issue a regroup command which aligns all the ships towards the regroup position, and gets them up to speed.
Whilst it's not a perfect solution to align and get up to speed, the effect is essentially the same.

Hm.. that gives me an idea. If You have time, You may send Your scout in that direction, and then warp to him and issue regroup without propagating it to leader. It will takes time only for scout to reach it's position 150km away. 20-30 sec for a skilled inty pilot, and Yourself can "approach" tackler flying away so You'll be aligned once he reach warp distance.
But one issue in there is still lack of "approach" option on objects outside 150km, which is effectively blocking any fleet operation. And I'll be pleased to have ono-click "move there" option instead of actual double-triple-quintiple clicking in space hoping You'll fly in that direction soon... after a while... -- Thanks CCP for cu<end of sig> |
