saw the ad on eve-tv, went to look at it
that seems a really good idea, its a google adwords but only with isk. pay isk to advertise your site, get paid when visitors come on yours
exactly adsense but finally maybe a good way to avoid isk selling ads?
http://www.isksense.com
Anyone else uses it? the site is functional but i have no idea if its used
or did i miss the announcement somewhere ------

If it works, the idea is pretty brilliant. I've installed it on my site and will try it out, but already have some negatives tbh, mainly that there doesn't seem to be any statistics available (number of clicks etc) ---

Edited by: Splagada on 20/09/2007 14:08:15 i regged to it today and i see reports available(simple ones still)
that could need a bit more customization on banner sizes but the thing is overall really simple to use ------

Edited by: Ix Forres on 20/09/2007 17:25:50 Hiho- developer here! While it all basically works I'm getting webmaster feedback before I go for a big general announcement.
Feel free to use it and throw feedback in here or at me in #eve-dev on irc.coldfront.net - I'll get a bugtracker up eventually, hopefully, but till then it's shouting till stuff's fixed.
It's only been 'finished' for the last day or so after I got the API bugs sorted out, and I'm still finishing areas like statistics (graphs and whatnot) and adding more options on adverts/websites, more advert box types, and so on. It's an ongoing process- if you have ideas, give me a shout.

It's all under 'reports'- I'm overhauling that bit at the moment, it's all a bit hidden and unfinished, that

Yeah, found it after a while. Placement wasn't very intuitive tho, maybe something to consider adding in the user menu.
I tried adding a million ISK 2-3 hours ago by the way that have still not shown up on the acct ---

I've added that slightly more prominently in the newer version (I just threw up a new update). The API queue is having a few problems yet again but it _should_ work next run (I have to wait an hour between tests)- that's payments incoming, hence why it hasn't shown up for you yet.

buying isk with money is illegl, so now you can buy it with a web counter instead? welcome to the most abusable idea ever. it just means that people with more mony and resources can gain even more isk than other players.
"Please help us keep the game balanced and fair" - quote from an ISD member in regards to not buying isk and getting rid of sellers.
I dont see how this is any different. instead of buying it with money, you use money to create a website and get a bunch of traffic. so I would simply create a site with "free ****" (cause we know everyone wants **** for free), an eve site, and even multiple other sites that fill a niche in the internet venues, then steal a bunch of files and pics from other sites/videos/etc, cram the sites full of them, then put a popup or large picture link saying check out this game site for eve, and have some enticing tagline. More than a few people would check out the site for sure, and that simply equals more isk. its a nice workaround to buying ISK from a farmer-seller. Time cards are bad enough, but at least they help others play the game and it gives something tangible to CCP. this idea is rife with abusability.
this idea needs to die.
If I wanted to play a game where the basic user is always disadvantaged compared to the other players who invest real world finance into getting better service or items, and more in game money than I can possibly make playing legitimately, I could go play runescape. There's no point competing with people who, in short, basically cheat the system.

I'd say it isn't- this is simply an idea to facilitate Eve-ish content to Eve players. As long as no real money is converted to ISK or the other way around I don't really see a problem tbh...

You have no viable opinion Mr !. And not only because your argument is so confoundedly absurd. If anything, ISKSense overs a viable alternative to all the ISK selling adverts you find on EVE-related sites nowadays.

you pay money for a website to get hits by total strangers to inflate your money in game.

If the conversion rate was any where near enough for it to be abusable I would agree with you. But it's not.
You may as well label Chribba an ISK buyer then for allowing advertising on EVE-Files in return for ISK.

There is no grey area here at all as far as I can see. Corporate and Alliance websites that detail services or functions that are available fully within the mechanics of the Eve, are doing so with the sole purpose of making ISK.
The ISK-sense service is no different in that respect than any other organization wishing to further their influence using a meta-game platform such as a website.
And what is trying to be explained to the drama queens haunting this thread, is merely that game related sites can now use this ISK-Sense so that there are no irritating 'BUY ISK NOW FOR $$$!!!11one' ads, Which ruin the immersive aspect of the pages in question.
After all... Eve is a fictional hyper-capatalistic fuedal society of the future, where nothing is free and/or totally without risk.
I expect no less.
Don't whinge 'cos you didn't do it first, do it better or STFU

ever tried adsense? your site becomes cluttered with isk selling ads, whatever you do in the filters
fansites or community websites are costly to host, so if there can be some help through this kind of program i find that really ok
its isk only, theres no RL transaction, anywhere ------

Where is a site like woot.com related to EVE? Buy it directly from a factory in China?

Edited by: Ix Forres on 23/09/2007 16:04:13 In terms of abiding by the ToS, I've been developing this in an entirely open fashion, discussing it with EVE developers, and nobody has raised a 'Oi, that's not allowed' with me. I've checked with the ToS and it's all above-board. As others have pointed out, Chribba and other site owners have been doing this for ages.
There's still a lot of bugs to work out but I'm slowly getting through them. Hopefully everything should be working well within a week or so. If you want a feature or find a bug, throw it on the bugtracker (Link at the bottom of the site).

That was a test ad someone threw up. Like I say, it's still in development- it's not finished. There's stuff like that still knocking around.

Since it is allowed to rent killboards for isk (afaik) and advertise in EON for isk, I do not see why it would not be allowed. ---- Weeks of programming can save you hours of planning. Jumpplanner v2.0 - Routeplanner for all jumpcapable ships! |

Might be interested when it's finished then... what do you estimate how much an ad will cost roughly (I know it depends on the number of clicks :P)?

Till it's been running live for a bit there's no way to tell how much it'd cost roughly for, say, a month, but it's 20k for each click at the moment, which is considerably cheaper than other available services.
