Edited by: CCP Abraxas on 24/09/2007 17:25:36 Hello folks,
We return to Draea, and get a glimpse of her training procedures. They're a tad more brutal than Nale's, but then, Draea seems to be having more fun, too. This is effectively the end of Act I: Next time, these two start moving towards their points of intersection.
Also, we now have an RSS feed. It isn't yet officially available, but it seems to be working fine, so those of you who prefer live updates should point your readers to http://www.eve-online.com/feed/chronicles.xml
(edit: We won't update the RSS feed until Tuesday, likely, so no worries if you don't see the new story there right away).
Out of curiosity, who here is planning to attend the Fan Fest? And if we give a reading from an unpublished chronicle, possibly followed by a Q & A session, would you show up? It might not be me giving the actual reading, but I'd be around for questions.

Wow over 6 hours since the post and only a few replies. Maybe the Eve community isn't into the girl-on-girl violence.
On the other hand, I though it was pretty well written, a bit short but that's okay. I did enjoy the end where he calls her a psycho and she laughs about it.
Just do me a favor and do not have Nale and Draea end up having a secret love that makes them both try to stop their current employers objectives.
I can see that one coming a mile away.
Keep up the good work Abraxas!

Damn straight, although it is a fantastic piece of writing, emotion etc, I just cannot help but be.... almost disgusted at this one.
Perhaps disgusted is the wrong word, rather disturbed... or... oh ffs, I don't have the words in my vocabulary for this.
Abraxas, I do like your writing, and this is a brilliant piece, as were all your others, but I find there are some subjects I would not touch on.
A moving piece nonetheless, well done.

No wonder. The only character of any redemptive worth is the one who dies. The rest of them treat this like a game, but then, they are the kind of people who would do that.
You're not the first one who found the story uncomfortable to read, and I expect you won't be the last, particularly if you're one of those who requested that Draea be brought back after her initial appearance in Post Mortem. Read this, and trust that I know where I'm going, even if I'm taking dark roads to get there.

I would prefer an awkward love-hate-love relationship where she is a badass psycho and he tries to counter-balance such thing. kinda like exploiting a ying-yang setting for them both. ---

I could not and would not dare to doubt that, I just thought I should attempt to word my feelings on this one. As said though I do like the style of writing, it has to be some of the most engaging I have read in a long time. (Well since I read the LOTR Trilogy last week )
Different genre though, and I like how you have it gritty with... how should I say... "antimatter blastercharge in the face" blunt if you get me?... ----------------------------

Abraxas, one other question, did you feel like it was a case of minor deja vu while writing this one as it is very close to the "Methods of Torture - Gallente".
It seems to me very much on the same lines, respectively the part where the loss of life is almost a non-concern in the story.
Is this going to be a recurring theme in your story arcs?

"What, you think I'd want to go in there and do it personally? You've got a knife, you psychopath."
She left the chamber, laughing loudly.
LOL I love you writing style.

Quote: She tossed the knife in the air a couple of times, then leaned down to Inibjer and whispered, "I'm not going to kill you. Don't worry. I'm going to walk away slowly, and they'll have to find someone else to do the job. I might even be able to get help, put a stop to this."
Tears started running down Inibjer's eyes, and Draea said, "Be strong." Despite the restraints, Inibjer tried to nod, but all that came out was a tremor.
Draea slowly walked away, then, in one swift motion, she turned, raised the knife and threw it with massive force. It whizzed through the air and sliced just past Inibjer's head, grazing her right temple and bouncing off the wall beyond.
There was a sigh from above.
Frowning, Draea walked past Inibjer and picked up the knife, then stalked back to her, said, "Sorry, dear. I lied," and leaned over the prone victim. Inibjer trembled and shivered for a moment, then gurgled and went slack, maroon rivulets trailing down her arms and chest.
Welcome to the World of EVE:Online.
Now all we need now is a Hot-Intimate session with two characters while the Jove watch, learning about the Empire Species' mating ways in the middle of a battlefield (Or mine field) and we'd have the perfect Advertisement slogan right there.
Yes, Abraxas, t'was disturbing, however one has to think, "Is there a such thing as a 'Good Guy' in EVE any more?" Like Space itself, the Stars are forever drenched in darkness.
Now load up the Grenades and let us see some Super-Human-Resident-Evil-Alice Action! (Just kidding)

Yep, EVE's a darker place than a lot of people want to admit. - The game is not the problem. The problem is that you are not adapting to the game.

If the knife grazed her temple where was the killing blow? I know a bit about human anatomy I do not think there is a major artery there. Did it cut her neck? Did I miss something? or was the knife so fast and powerfully thrown that it cleaved her skull. Just wondering.
