A fool and his money are soon parted.
Who in their right mind would accept a 4-month old alt, who has never been in a corp apart from the NPC one, into their corp as CEO under the presumption that this character creates and will create an Alliance for said corp? You'd have to be mad. But Eve players are mad. Mad as hatters.
After seeing this I thought that I might have a candidate so I jumped onto the old trustworthy-seeming and eloquent Quesa Dia. Conversing with boemer, I gathered that he wasn't quite grasping what was about to happen to him. But, who am I to point such things out to people? Anyway, I digress. I found out that I had to travel 20 odd jumps. I don't like travelling long distances. So, I told him that-
Quesa Dia > I have another char who's got very similar skills who I'll use to do it instead, he's much closer
-which, for most people, would immediately raise alarm bells. But, tentatively, I continued without being interrupted with shouts of "scammer!". Tension was mounting. Logging on with my 'near-identical alt' Jim Diamond I moved the few jumps to the office at which I was to be recruited. Seconds passed like minutes after lodging my application before I was accepted, and then in the private chat I see the words
XXXXXX > accepted XXXXXX > he is ceo
which mean, to me, something like "Hi, please take our monies", so I did. After purloining 1,000,331,282.19 ISK from them, blocking the person I was conversing with and transferring the ISK to another character, I was contacted in Corp Chat by the one member I hadn't been able to expel, and the conversation went, hilariously, close to this -
XXXXXX> wel there you go you just created ur self a scammer and ill get ur main banned Jim Diamond > doesn't work like that sorry XXXXXX> come dud i pay 500 mill if you make that alliance
At this point I was wondering if I was taking advantage of someone with a mental disability and pondered the moral consequences but then dismissed them in favour of stealing more ISK.
Jim Diamond > hmm... well, how can i trust you'll give me the money? i'll lose the 1b if i make the alliance and then you might not give me anything Jim Diamond > give me 250m now and i'll make it within 2 minutes XXXXXX > lines and lines of pleading Jim Diamond > i'm holding your money to ransom, pay me to get your alliance XXXXXX > more pleading Jim Diamond > 250m and you get your 1b worth, and you're 250m out of pocket otherwise i keep the 1b and you're 1b out of pocket, your choice Jim Diamond > my wallet isn't flashing
About now is when any normal, rational individual would tell me to **** off and die in a hole. We're obviously not dealing with that kind of person. Note my tone of arrogance? At this stage I know that I have him by the balls, and he can either back out now or lose it all or keep going, spend some more and hope to win it all back. The house always wins.
XXXXXXX > what do u you need Jim Diamond > ISK XXXXXXX > how much do you need jim Jim Diamond > lots Jim Diamond > Ok, Ok, 250m
And to my complete astonishment and utter disbelief, seconds later 250m ISK appeared in my wallet.
Jim Diamond > oh well, o/ guys thanks for the 1.25b
I tip my hat to stupid, rich people. It's been a good day.

Scammers provide a public service. They remind people of how stupid they are. Too bad the "victims" don't see it that way. So, probably, I should have said, they remind OTHER people of how stupid SOME people can be.
Now, don't go blowing all that ISK in a single joint, ya' hear ? _

You are the type of person that makes my job much harder. Link True they should have more carefully check out your past to make sure you had an honest track history.
But thanks for now showing all of Eve you are a thief and one to be avoided. (And I've added your name to the list too)

I dunno. I find scammers to be scumbags in general. It is true that people shouldn't trust anyone they don't know though. If ya don't know em, assume it's a scam until convinced otherwise. So, part of the game (and life really), and I accept that. But I won't go so far as to compliment them. That's kinda like watching someone offer to help an old lady across the street, them taking the purse, kicking her in the groin, then running off and laughing when she gets hit by a truck 2 seconds later. Well, maybe not that bad, but it's a random metaphor, and EVERY thread worthy of being read needs a random metaphor. ------ "Arguing over the internet is like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win you're still ********." |

Dirty stinking scammers! I'm glad my current corp is founded on honour and nobility, I find my sensibilities truly offended by this heinous act.
You are obviously a mean person IRL who lives in some substandard accomodation and possibly has poor hygiene.
I hope this terrible act is sorted out through the petition system, im sure that's what it is there for!

but on a more serious note...if he had aquired said "alliance making services" off of the sell orders forum ...would then it be a banable offense? just curious..

Anyone dumb enough to fall for that really gets no pity. Some scams (like contract abuse where the numbers do not show right and you miss a digit) are petty and cruel, it is this kind of social engineering scam that I really applaud.
Outsmarting a guy entitles you to the ISK.

Not anymore. Only character transfer scams and GTC trade scams are banable. And the reasons because they are banable is because they involve RL money, which could be a possible RL judicial responsabilities for CCP for allowing RL scam on their forums.
(character transfer have a 20$ transfer fee)
