What are the two best ships paired up to do lvl 4 missions. Assume any rat type. No pure logistics ships. Ships must be able to tear through small ships that warp scramble.

Would you fit pulse or beam lasers on the abaddon?

I know a guy who does them in a Raven + Sleip and its pretty pwn. So my vote's going to go for Ganka-CNR + Sleip.

Drake with Basilisk :) You may not kill anything, but you sure as hell won't die.
Actually, probably the CNR + DPS battleship combo. CNR tanks, something else (Abaddon does come to mind) 'pwns everything. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

I do have an abaddon with t2 pulse. But I probably need t2 tachyons for range.

Raven as primary tanker but the astarte can take some beating too even with only a single rep tank. Torp raven kills BC+BS in no time and the rail astarte can pop pretty much anything smaller than a BS with minimal efford. Makes cleaning out the stages extra fast.

lol everyone replies with something different. Thats pretty cool.
As you notice most people use a tank+gank. Or they fit gank and use another vessel to supply the tank to them with a logistic for example.
Just find a decent ganking ship and get a decent tanking ship/remote repair vessel. _________________________________________________ Breetime

I would imagine a torp raven might have trouble fitting torps and a tank good enough for lvl 4 missions. Don't forget, the astarte can do about 1000 dps with good skills.

I would think a cruise raven (tank) + gank rail astarte ...

So how does a torp raven's tank compare to a cruise raven's?

2xremote rep CNRs hands down. Even just one is an overkill for most L4s.

Torpedo Raven + Nighthawk.
Nighthawk starts at the frigs and works his way up, raven starts at the BS and works his way down.

I was thinking something similar, tanked nighthawk & gank Torp Navy Raven.
or if your poor Tanked Drake & Gank raven.
Drake/nighthawk is the main tank and works on small ships first then goes to bigger ships. Torp raven/navy raven is mostly gank fit and works on popping battleships first then works down. ---------------------- Rank: Tech 1 and a 1/2 cannon fodder

With the same tank (XL Gist + 3 Hardener), 3 BCU, 6 t2 launchers (2free hi) and maxed skills the torp rave does 4.5k volley damage/619DPS vs cruise raven doing 3.1k volley damage/450DPS.
Torps are only worth it on BS/BC though but those are taken out very fast. Cruise hit better (compared to torps) on the smaller targets but do less overall damage. If you run solo the cruise raven is better because of its ability to help the drones killing all those cruisers/frigs faster. If you run with a ship that can take care of the cruisers/frigs you are better of with maxing the damage with using a torp raven.
Astarte is my 1st choice but a Cerberus or Absolution should do an awesome job for cleaning up those small ships too.

With the unpredictable aggro, especially from mission with waves of spawns, I'd recommend 2 ships that can tank and gank independently since alot of times you never know whos going to grab the next waves aggro.
Personally, 2 torp CNR's, 10 light drones or 10 medium drones is plenty to take out cruisers and frigs.

Mu brother and I do lvl 4 missions together.
I have an armaggedon, and my brother has an apocolypse (hey, they have good cap!)
I have my geddon setup with 4 megabeams, and 3 dual beams. The mids are cap rechargers and a painter. The low slots are just tank (LAR II, 4 hardeners), heat sink, and 2 cap relays. When I get some rigs for cap, I plan to get another heat sink, and tracking enhancer. For drones I use 5 heavies. Im also thinking about getting 5 sentry drones seeing how I dont move much, but I have to see how well they handle smaller things.
My brother's apocalypse has 6 megabeams, 1 dual beam, and 1 large armor transfer array. His mids are a target painter, webber, and 2 cap rechargers. His lows are 1 LAR, 1 EANM, 2 heat sinks, 1 tracking computer, and a 2 cap relays. For drones he uses mediums.
The basic idea is that I warp in first and agro everything. He then warps in, locks on me, and runs the remote rep full time. Since I do the tanking, he can gear for gank. We have enough range on our guns that we can just stand still and kill everything. If anything gets within 10 km of us, my brother just webbs it, and sends in his meduim drones.
We start off shooting anything big like Battlecruiser and Battleships ourselfs. I send my drones after the smaller targets like cruisers, and destroyers. My brother uses his meduims drones for anti-frigate only.
Im not saying this is the best way, but it seems to work very well for us. Forcing one person to run dual reps pretty much kills his ability to do anything else, while the other person has cap to spare. Having one person tank, while the other remote reps is very good because then both people get thier cap used. Also, a dedicated tanks lets the other person fit more damage mods.
