So anyway I am figuring out how to fit my new thanatos and I'm a bit stumped as to which smartbombs to fit. So far I figure 2x7.5k smartbombs if I can afford it.
I have been offered a True Sansha Large EMP Smartbomb for a decent price, it does 375 emp damage and has a 7.5k range. But I'm not sure if its a good damage type to be doing?
So anyway, just wondering what the advantages of big smartbomb range is? and how good is enough. And what damage type is best. Personally I am a fan of Thermal damage, but 7.5k thermal damage type smartbombs seem a tad on the expensive side.

Less of a big deal now that range counts from centre and not edge of hull of the ship.
Though range still make them more effective towards any ship that has to get close, including drones and tacklers.

On average damage type matters very little. Go with whichever suits your wallet best.

I use a t1 best named thermal, on the grounds that even if I paid 150m for a Sansha's EM one, I'd not even kill frigates with it, and it'd actually do LESS damage to drones (which is what a smartbomb should be killing on a carrier) due to the fact that it will take a year to chew through armor.

We allready know.
Then again, lasers and smartbombs dont exactly have the same purpose, and as such smartbomb damagetype doesnt really matter.
