each night eve-online has a 2.5-4 hour down time for me, and im sure others, how hard would it be to make a link where we can manually download and place replace the files that need to be replaced so i can actually play the game? eve is always down from 9am to 11:30-1:30 am for me, this is ridiculas.... please give us other options. its currently 11:45 pm and still cant log in....

oh thank you 2 for representing the whole 300000 subscribers of eve and making sure we know that it works for you. as useful as that information is, their is a small minority that has a problem which would be rather easily fixed and thus should be implemented.

Maybe you should start by explaining what that problem is, other than 'i can't log on'? IE, what files are you replacing and why?

It should be no problem then to ... I don't know ... explain yourself a bit more? And actually make a usefull post? Perhaps?

Could you please explain what the hell you're talking about? Saying that it's happening to you and "I'm sure others" lends absolutely no credibility to your argument.

Could you please explain what your actual problem is before making assumptions about how easy it would be to fix, despite only being an issue for a small minority (which makes it harder to fix, actually)? ---------------

The problem is that for a small number of people (tiny percentage, actually), the "acquiring bulk data" HANGS a lot, for hours even... sometimes it eventually finishes, sometimes only after a couple of retries. I've only had this issue ONCE in my entire EVE playtime, I waited only 10 min, relogged, worked almost instantly the 2nd time. My advice would be that whenever you sit more than 15-30 mins on bulk data, you should just relog, wait max 5 min each time, keep retrying. _

just for you.
When you log on after each downtime your client downloads new "bulk data files" you only do this once, each time you log on you will see it just skip past it instantly once its checked you have the new files. the problem lies in the after each down time, when i and im sure others, sit for hours trying to receive these new "bulk data files" from the eve-online server.

Have you actually heard of anyone else with this problem? Have you considered that your connection or ISP might be part of the problem? Did you even bother to check before coming to the forums and writing a ranty post where you assert that you and many others have this problem, and that the problem is easy to fix? ---------------

Hmmm, i have only had that once, when i tried to connect to Eve on a laptop via a mobile device, i assumed that the slow connection was the issue and gave up.
A quick search shows some others have had this issue in the past but no one from CCP seems to have offered advice. One person resolved it by reinstalling the client from scratch, have you tried this?
Does anyone know what gets updated by bulk data? i had always assumed it was account specific info rather than general client stuff? which might mean your suggestion wouldn't work anyway.

my ranty post returnd by your flame of a reply? and here you are triyng to take the highground
if you do a quick search for bulk data in the top right hand corner of this site you will see that its been a huge problem in the past, and presumably was fixed and in the past 2 weeks or so (in my case) has started up again, simple solution being to place the files that are getting updated automatically by the eve client on a manual download page, nothing difficult about that.
secondly maybe people dont bother posting their problems on forums because people like yourself and Xoria Krint instaflame them just because you don't share the problem?
this is not a connection problem as ive stated in previous rants in the last few days about this very issue, i have 24mbit Internet that is currently running fine so i cant see it being an ISP problem as im sure their arnt many Australian players on my ISP that play this game, actually now that i think about it i have naother member in my corp who does actully use my isp, ill ask him if he's having similar problems. as for the actual bulk data itself, i doubt its a large or complicated file/s ill leave that for the dev's to answer though because i haven't got a clue what the file/s the game updates after each dt.

You probably should have mentioned that it's an actual known issue - you didn't provide anything to suggest that this is a problem that other people have actually experienced the issue and then claimed that it must be easy to fix since it only affects a small number of users, which is generally the opposite is true.
Quote: secondly maybe people dont bother posting their problems on forums because people like yourself and Xoria Krint instaflame them just because you don't share the problem?
I respond to posts with an equal amount of logic, reason, and clarity that the original posts show.
Quote: this is not a connection problem as ive stated in previous rants in the last few days about this very issue, i have 24mbit Internet that is currently running fine so i cant see it being an ISP problem as im sure their arnt many Australian players on my ISP that play this game, actually now that i think about it i have naother member in my corp who does actully use my isp, ill ask him if he's having similar problems. as for the actual bulk data itself, i doubt its a large or complicated file/s ill leave that for the dev's to answer though because i haven't got a clue what the file/s the game updates after each dt.
See, you should have done that before coming to the forums and ranting - it ****es people off when you accuse CCP of having a problem before you investigate other, sometimes obvious possibilities.
To summarize - I didn't flame you because you had a problem, but your presentation of the problem, which made you appear that you did not make any effort to diagnose it and then blamed CCP and claimed that it was easy to solve (which none of us can know) was why you received some less-than-positive replies. Now that you've made your case, I apologize. ---------------

if you wait it out long enough does it work in the end? Or do you have to keep retrying until it works at a normal rate?

apology accepted, though im sure you could appreciate how frustrating it would make a person to not be able to log on hours after the scheduled up time, last night for example, i had just finished training my skills to fly my nighthawk, came home from work looking forward to seeing this beautiful ship, and then having to wait hours to log in :( admittedly it would have made more sense to send a petition but when angry i instead made a semi-rant of of a post asking ccp to implement a quick fix, though hopefully clearing my cache should do the trick thanks to those who suggested it, if not ill make sure to send a petition before ranting again.

We have a server-side fix undergoing testing and QA which should resolve the hang on downloading bulk data. Unless there are issues with the projected fix, it will be deployed on the 9th.
