well Having spent most of the day unable to connect, and reading about tiscali here, I've finally figured out where the problem is.
Apart from being told for about 30 mins, that this is all my (or the EVE server's fault), Tiscali then resorted to blaming BT for removing sockets and closing ports at my local exchange. Having checked with BT - this is news to them!
Tiscali refused to provide any kind of refund due to the daily problems in connecting I've been having. Eventually this ended with me asking for my MAC code (in order to move providers)
Tiscali didn't try and talk me out of it - apart from telling me that the MAC code would take 5 working days to be sent to me.
I advised that i would be reporting them to OFCOM (The ombudsman) - upon putting the phone down, my MAC code arrived within 30 seconds! I have promptly requested to move service, to a faster provider, for the same money!
If anyone else is having problems with Tiscali and being unable to connect to EVE - I would be making a phone call quick smart.
For info, the tel number you'll need is 0845 077 4488 - option 1. dont call the 0870 number, as it costs you a fortune, and takes ages to be connected
7 days and my problems with Tiscali will be well and truely over

Edited by: Ronin Docchitsukazu on 02/10/2007 17:53:24 Edited by: Ronin Docchitsukazu on 02/10/2007 17:53:07 It's interesting that when I asked for my MAC code (last week), the guy asked me why I wanted to move. I told him I was into online gaming and.... before I could say any more, he said he totally agreed! and suggested some alternative ISPs,
So, come tomorrow night I'll be with Zen.co.uk Hurrah!
...and incidentally - it took them 1 hour and 10 mins to get my MAC.
Harudan: Change today!!!

Used to be with Eclipse, but sky is known to have high pings that not good for gameplay, check out the forums on thinkbroadband.com and dslreports.com
TV could be good, but not any games that need low pings like fps :(
some other guy on another forum had their isp tell them that the game was not working...

I've also just dumped Eclipse due to their packet shaping and the fact that they're blocking connections to trackers during certain times. Shame, they used to be good.
As of Monday I'm with UKFSN. --

Edited by: Kai Tempest on 03/10/2007 20:34:54 I am with Pipex Homecall. I've been with them since about Feburary and had problems from the start. I had real poor speeds at peak times "and also at around 10:30am during the day till after lunch". I threatened them with speaking to OFCOM and asked for MAC code and they said no, if you want the mac code you need to pay ú26 per month for the remainder of the contract.
Now I am not working thus not in a position to pay the ú130 that they will want from me upfront. My internet is now at an alltime low with limited connection to eve, and I havent yet called them as their calls cost a bloody fortune. I will have to call them soon though about the connectivity issues but does anyone have any comments that may help me leave these horrid people.
P.S. Pipex Homecall are using the Tiscali network, I have done traceroutes and see a number of Tiscali connections along the way, which also have high pings which sucks for other games like Battlefield 2 which I find pretty much unplayable cos of a high ping.
EDIT: I have just managed to get a connection to Eve, fingers crossed it'll last l;ong enough for me to do what I need to do

Wish I'd read these forums before I signed up to Pipex. Now stuck on an 18 month contract and I keep getting connection probs.
Lets hope they and Tiscali can sort out the port 26000 traffic before too long.
Incidentally, Zen are extremely reliable. Also, my previous ISP of 3 years, Freeola, have always been brilliant.
*sniff* I miss them.
