i'm considering an alt to specialize in an interceptor (of course if amarr ceptors aren't bad i might just use this guy for it), but which do you like best? i kind of like the idea of making a Minmitar inty with all that bleeding awesome speed they have.

I like the Crusader, Crow, Malediction and Stiletto.
Sader for in your face speed and pulses... Crow and Malediction for silly afk orbit killing. Stiletto because its the best tackler.

Malediction is the best tackler there is, it was great before Khanid MkII and is just fantastic now. It does okay in inty combat as well, but that's not its real strength.

Its a hair lighter, but wastes one mid slot for a high slot... tacklers don't need high slots. Stiletto is better.

While I love my Taranises, there's no denying that the Crow is really the most survivable and flexible of intys. Not to mention that it simply sings when you start to drop the isk for faction mods, polycarbons, etc. on it.
Sensor-boosted Stilettos are chock-full of tackling love, though. ------ Director, No Quarter "There is no problem that cannot be solved by the judicious application of violence." |

Actually funny enough Amarr interceptors are faster than Minmatar, because the Amarr inties have less mass than their Minmatar counterparts.
And for gang work, I would recommend something with 4 mids (MWD, scram, 2x cap rechargers) and as many lows as possible. For solo work, the Crow (maybe a Khanid one too, haven't really checked those out) does very nicely because it can shoot and hit even while MWDing. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... The Saider is really the best inti for killing. For tackling, the Malidiction and Stiletto are borth really good - but the claw is such a piece of ccrap its not even funney.

This is not true. The same argument is made for the Crow being the fastest interceptor. Yes they are less mass, but the top speed on the claw is so much greater than the top speed of any of its counterparts that it is capable of reaching much higher speeds than any other interceptor if you equip it with the proper mass reducing mods (it has 4 low slots).
Using simply named and tech 2 parts, I was able to get my claw up to 7.3 km/h (whitout riggings). Add in some rigs, maybe some faction mods, implants, you could easily get a claw up faster than 10k.

The Malediction.
The Khanid changes to it, it's like CCP read my mind. Or at least the notepad on my desk.
Lately I have been experimenting with sensor-dampening setups, supportable by its superior capacitor. Needless to say, I am looking forward to the T2 EW frigs. It's like CCP read my mind again.

The Crow, as it can perma run it's MWD, launchers and tackle plus it has no tracking issues so it hits consistently even if it's not the fastest interceptor.

I like the Malediction more than just about any ship I've flown. It's reasonably fast, good at killing ceptors, reacts well with rigs/faction gear(though for the full snake+gistii+poly setup you'd probably be better off with a crow for the lock range).
Great for tackling in gangs, range versitility with javs, fairly survivable while nano fit(dcuII 2x OD 2xpolycarbs works great).
And you can fly the sader if you want more speed and better inty killing.

yea sader is better for killing other inty then diction because of speed and it does like 2-3 times as much dps ..:P but malediction is good for tackling, which usually is the main role of an inty anyways

Edited by: welsh wizard on 07/10/2007 10:05:09 General purpose - Crow/Diction (with standards), Crow edges it because it fits better.
Combat - Probably the Crusader/Diction with rockets although the low lock ranges are a pain in the arse. Crow aint bad but the fact that its weapon can't hit (at all or for any useful damage) targets that go faster than an easily attainable speed is a big turn off.
Tackling - Stilleto by far and away although the Crow is up there with it because of speed/cap use.
In terms of abiding to the ship classes definition the Stilleto is the quintessential interceptor.

I like the stiletto but it just feels relatively slow to me. While it has plenty of mid slots it doesn't really have the cap to run them all for very long.
