This could very easily be reduced greatly by cutting down how many eve mails a trial user can send in a day to 5 or 10 and dont let trial users mail to the corp channel. This is hardly more disruptive than CSPA charges to new players and would have a much larger effect on the spammers ablitiy to spam.

Just a guess here: I would start by making it impossible (as others have suggested) to chat in any channel except Help, and make it impossible to join a player corp if you're a trial account.
Aside from the isk spamming, the real problem is isk buyers/isk sellers.
Sure, there are accounts farming stuff for isk 24/7 in some sweatshop. Those are probably paid accounts.
I would bet, however, that the accounts used to transfer isk are trial accounts, and they receive isk from farming (perhaps through two or three other trial accounts to mask the trail) in order to do the final transfer to a player who pays for isk.
We could probably put a large damper on this by limiting isk transfer by trial accounts (including market purchases, etc) to 1 million isk per 24 hours.
The farmers could still farm - but in order to sell isk, the isk sellers would have to pay for an account - and take the risk of repeatedly transferring isk in large amounts with the same character (this would instantly raise the price of isk).
I also think it would be worthwhile to do some data mining. I'm sure you could do some research on macrominers, and who they send their isk to, and pull up large networks of isk sellers by the roots. ------------------

They're farming missions, that's what, to sell the isk... ------------------

Edited by: NightKhaos on 11/02/2008 09:41:02 I think it is time CCP hired a small group of professional PIs to datamine and play in game looking for "suspicious activity detrimental to the security to of the EVE Universe", the GSA (Galactic Security Agency), these would effectively be admin cops designed to investigate and stomp down on ISK farming once and for all. It wouldn't be too much cost to them, relative to benefits, and it would be a determent to farming. Sure, it would result in smaller, harder to track, operations, but it would raise the price of ISK so much that they will end up losing money.
Also, has anyone thought about the database being hogged by huge amounts of trial accounts from spammers with bogus names?
Edit: Hmm... some of the words blocked are weird.
Reshape EVE for the future! Sell the 0.0 gates to player owned corps, and encourage an open ended universe. |

CCP, you REALLY need to get on this. The trail account spammers are getting WAAAAY out of hand. And to those people who say "just block'em" I echo what has been said by many others: "Yeah, right." Hell, more than half of the "spammers" aren't even human anymore. They are just automated bots taking advantage of CCP, Eve, everyone who is stupid enough to buy from them, and all of us honest players too.
After all CCP, we put up with the crappy/inconsistant customer service, the crappy state of the servers, the constant disconnects, the "un-announced" downtimes, and all the other abuse you throw our way. As loyal customers, do we REALLY have to put up with this too?
PLEASE, CCP, don't do what you normally do (i.e. hide your head in the sand and hope the problem goes away). PLEASE fix this. NOW.
