Tell me how you're supposed to fix the lag in Jita? Say they add more hardware/bandwidth...what happens? MORE people go to Jita because hey, it ain't lagging no more! *server goes groan* Hey, lag in Jita is back!
It's not something THEY can fix, it's something YOU can fix. Why the hell go to Jita anyway?

Umm... because it's most populated system, and as such the BEST place to do trade?

EvE terrorism Why doesn't some superrich corp bring a suicide gank squad and just randomly blow ppl up this might scare a few ppl away. Especially if you leave them there for the next few weeks hehe (if you could use bombs it would be even cooler )

Edited by: Egan Kurtiss on 23/10/2007 12:46:03 Lag unfixable? I don't think so. Nothing in code in unfixable. They just don't want to go to the lengths it would take to fix it, because it may compromise the game experience in other ways. Just easier to ignore the problem than make the fix.
Example: One way that lag issues almost anywhere could be fixed would be in just not bothering to engage the full 3d interface in bogged down systems. Give them a cruder, more old-school menu system that picks where they want to go next, and just blocks out all the 'in system' graphical aspects of the play. Yes, it would mean battles would grind to a halt in overcrowded warzones when the condition was engaged, and would prevent folks from mission running in the system, mining or doing general 'full feature' type stuff, but it WOULD make the system still playable... And in cases where the lag kicks up, those sorts of things are pretty much impossible to do properly anyway, so I'd consider the crippling of my 'graphics' a very acceptable compromise when going into Jita for business. If you made travel instant in-system under these conditions (it's just a menu click to dock on station) it would just speed up folks visits and get them back out of system quicker.
The problem is NOT too many connections... The problem is the server trying to do Too many things with that many folks connected. If the server knew how to throttle itself (the above option is about the simplest fix that would do it, with only 2 throttle states), there should be 1000s of folks able to go into a system at the same time.

You think it's the graphical interface that makes the slowdowns in jita? Try again man! Seems like you didn't experience the lag inside the stations while searching market, contracts and such stuff...
The worse graphical lag is... The overview! you can close it with tab. In fact, the lag is in the server struggling with all the things the player requests (moving, market, anything...). You will notice that the market works fine if accessed from perimeter (next to jita). So, before talking about things you can't understand, think, and don't talk trash.
People at CCP are working on the server performance, each time they improve the max people in a system, more people come in this system and then complain. So, there is always the maximum people in jita before it is unusable... No solution to this issue. -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

No dude... You don't get it... it's not the graphics itself lagging the Jita servers, but it is all the server side figuring that goes along with them. Plotting the courses of 400+ ships in system at once, fights going on, people bumping into each other, rats flying around the system, etc... I'm talking about stopping all that stuff when the lag is making it all disfunctional anyway.... You don't think the server is involved in all that computation, figuring, interaction, etc.? You think the graphics and game are all on the client? Then we shouldn't be having lag anywhere.

They could pretend there was a terrorist attack and remove all the stations? ;)

i love all these Jita lags fix it first before bringing new stuff out posts..
first JITA LAGS BECAUSE WE MAKE IT LAG.. CCP CANNOT FIX IT without a serious rewrite of the coding (to make multiple servers take the load for 1 system).. for those old enough Yulai ring any bells???
everyone crowds to 1 system the Node that system is on starts getting overloaded. causing lag.. best advice I can give is stay outta Jita and IF you have to go there have an alt to do that work for you..
Second.. EVE is not run by one person, they have TEAMS, now these teams look after different areas of EVE.
so say team one works on petitions 2 works on fixing old issues 3 WORKING ON NEW STUFF!!!!
Or for those too slow to pick up one what i'm trying to state above, the ppl who fix old stuff are NOT the same as those bringing new stuff out..
sorry if this seems like i'm annoyed but after reading this type of post for the 7 billionth time (EVE-Search anyone??) I am getting fed up..
