Large dose of wrong there old chap.
The strikes are not wildcat.
Regardless of alleged irregularities with the ballot, the strike has the full support of the CWU and the members, and as such is perfectly legal.
Also, go and stand outside a picketed post office next time the guys are there. Many more motorists will toot in solidarity than not. A lot of folk I have talked to are annoyed that the strikes are happening, and the inconvenience some of them are put to, but well understand the reasons why and are in support of the CWU.
As for pressure, do you not think that threatening someone with the prospect of worsening working conditions and a reduced pension constitutes enforced bum-fun?
Yes the CWU pulled it's members out (oooeeerrr!!), but it is the The Royal Mail that is responsible for the strikes, they left the CWU and it's membership no other option.
The next revolution won't be televised; it'll be pod-cast. |

My brother is a contractor to Royal Mail, and he informed me that whenever the rank and file go on strike, all the management literally have to go down to the mail room and sort mail.
Kind of interesting feedback loop between managers, strikers and whoever negotiates with unions at the top.

There have been Wildcat strikes. The CWU called an end to the strikes (for now) on the 12th in response to a High Court order, but there were still pickets at London sorting offices yesterday. ------

Yah. This is quite common. Happened a fair bit at Cammel Lairds and British Steel in Birkenhead when they were being knee-capped by the then Conservative government. See also "Miners' Strike".
What you are probably seeing is picketing by members of the union, and possibly non-union workers showing solidarity (closed shops ARE illegal and the Royal mail workers are not all CWU members). These folk will probably be on leave, either a regular day off or holiday leave, and volunteer their time to raise awareness of the issues.
This isn't illegal and is not strike action.
The situation has changed somewhat since the days of Arthur Scargill, and there are many more rules now attached to picketing and protests, but the basic right to picket still remains.
