Momentum. The Reckoning.

A long time ago, I was newb'd in a low-sec system and even ransomed. I took it lightly, but at that point CCP could have been certain that I would come to be a long term customer.
I vowed to get my payback, even if I had to continue playing!
I can't even remember who it was :(
I've killed a few ships before, undoubtedly even newbies, and I often wonder if I had such an impact on someone else. Or, if by destroying one of my ships, someone got excited enough to continue playing.
So if you remember why you initially decided you were going to pay the 14 bucks or vowed revenge at all costs.... what was it? What or who opened your eyes to the challange, vengence, or whatever it was?
For me, it was simple. Sweet revenge.

For me it was getting sniped by a geddon, on my first trip into lowsec, at the Ami gate, waaaay before this crappy warp to 0km came in, it was someone from pre-nerft tactics. I think it was Mr Jay...
Are pre-nerft still active? Its been so long since I was in that area :(
Anyway I nigh insta popped in my wonderous triple civi booster + double civi armor repping caracal or whatever the **** noob-mobile I was flying at the time It made me want to stick it out and one day be able to grief noobs in a similar manner

it was even more simple for me, I loaded up the 14day free trial and off I went. The 1st time I entered warp in my noobship there was that woosh and the sub-woofer rumbling on my pc speakers....I thought "ok this game is cool." Granted I have had a few breaks here and there but I always keep coming back....
now it is the YARR that keeps me hooked
"Where are you guys going in your battleships?" "We are going to camp in Amamake; kill 500 carebears and 1 NPC" "Why are you gonna kill an NPC?" "See, nobody cares about the carebears!" [BEES] |

i got taken in very early by some brand new corp with big dreams etc, one of their 'veterans' gave me a hand-me-down caracal they didn't use, i was awestruck by the generosity (it was worth MILLIONS of isk ), and drunk on the new found power i now wielded.
i went with another newbie corp member to see what low sec was like, hearing that the rats had bounties over 100,000isk each , we did a bit of ratting and got jumped by some frigate. thinking the caracal was an awesome pwnmobile my corp-mate (in a thorax) and i fought back... i hadn't a clue why the frig was so hard to kill (was probably in inty or something), but we WERE slowly winning, which was so exciting for a newbie. then another guy warped to the fight in some BS, i basically said "run away" and warped out (budding FC material huh?).
i found myself at a gate alone, and turns out my corp-mate couldn't warp for some reason (scram? ), so in a 'screw this, i ain't leaving a mate behind' moment, i warped back in... got a few volleys off trying to draw fire from my wingman's assailant. we both died in short order, and were stunned at how quickly you could lose such vast sums of ISK ()
the fight had been good fun so we had no hard feeling towards the pirates, but having heard stories we expected all kinds of smack talk and ridicule. but all we got was "respect for coming back for your corp-mate dude =)" and some advice on improving out setups before we went on our way.
a good fight, respect for an honourable deed, helpful and courteous adversaries... yes, i decided this game was for me. (i can't say life in EvE has been so golden since, but there's always a golden moment now and then to renew my faith)

I was adobted by a corp and put in a training academy. Was way back when we were in the north in elonaya.
So me and a guy named Ren went to auonnen (Spelling?)
Anyway first belt we warp to to rat we get jumped by a frigate, I cant even remember what kind. Im in a kestrel and Ren is in a caracal and all of a sudden it goes very fast.
I pure panik I simply keep shooting and find my self with a nasty - security when his pod died...
After cooling down a bit Ren took me over what happened, and I was like WOW adrenaline !
I want a caracal toooooo
The shear dammage it dealt ! Stunning !
So I got my caracal 2 weeks later and went to 0.0, never looked back. (I still have my first caracal and my first Ferox treasured in the hangar)

I am in no way able to rest from the game until I have systematically vaporized the ship of every aggressor who has ever attacked me unjustly...
...Err, even if it means attacking a few people unjustly in the process.
(Funny how the longer I play, the more such distinctions such as "justice" and "honor" seem to fade to a vast and immesurable greyness...)

I play Eve to chill with friends, blow up friends and have a laugh.
I cant' remember all the people who have podded me in the depths of low sec or 0.0, though I have ended up fighting along side some of them.

I think it started off with something similar to the original poster's story.
Now I would say I play to just get that good old evil feeling stirred up in me. Also I love pods... crunchy on the outside, soft gooey inside, just can't seem to get enough of them... Sheesh, now i've made myself hungry for some virgin podkills... you know.. the newb who has never been podded and sends you a scathing evemail telling you how evil you are for doing that.
Oh and exotic dancers... can't have too many.
