Fresh from the item database:
- Shield Extenders Large Battleship-class shield extension systems.
At least that's the official concept.
And no, a large shield extender doesn't by any means equal an 800mm plate. A LSEII gives 25% more hitpoints, plus increased shield regeneration and needs 35MW less to fit.
The reason there is no direct 1600mm plate counterpart, with regard to bonus hitpoints, is the passive shield regeneration. Armor doesn't regenerate, it's a pure buffer.
If at all, I'd say: - Increase the shield hp bonus on LSEII to 3350 and fitting to 330MW - Change MSEII to 1250 shield HP and 42MW Something like that.

edit: oh and introduce stacking penalty to cap power relays and shield power relays, bringing an end to monstrous passive shield tanks and 7-8s cap recharge Avatars. Yeah I know, wish- and flameful thinking, but I'm sure it would be for the better of the game.
Well, if you do that, make sure you increase the CPU requrements of my 1600mm plates so that I can't fit them on Vexors anymore - afterall, fair's fair.

I don't see a reason for that, as Caracals or cruisers in general would still be able to fit the new LSEII for 247,5 MW. Don't forget that powergrid needs on extenders can be reduced.

I was going to respond to this utter idiocy, but then remembered I'd given up forum whoring.

Guys, for real.
Plates and extenders are just about directly related. Plates take alot of PG (on PG limited ships) and extenders take alot of CPU (on CPU limited ships).
Go look at page 1 or 2, I posted the figures of each plate/extender. You can plainly see that plates and extenders are equal to eachother when present, except for the LSE II. This module is an anomaly, and should be brought in-line with its counterpart the 800 MM plate (2100 HP).
Hey it might even lessen the uber-BC passive tanks out there a little bit.
IF anything needs work, its making passive tanking on classes outside of the BC viable. This would probally just mean a reduced recharge time on most caldari non-BC ships.
As far as an X-large booster goes. Like I said, show me one that would debilitate a BC fitting it, has 4200 HP (just like its counter-part the 1600 MM) and I'll sign off on it.

Drake has about 1200 grid with max skills, give it 1300 grid req and hp similar to a 1600mm plate and it would be fine. A drake could still fit it with rigs but at the point it would be better to fit lse instead. That way an x-l extender would not be amazing but at least it would exist.
Though one thing you should know: despite having higher cpu use the issue with fitting lses is way more often pg, at least on missile ships.

Sure, too bad Caldari battleships have the powergrid of an Ibis and would be unable to fit it aswell.

i must be doing something wrong then as i have several thousand grid left over on my ravens. what i find the limiting factor is cpu never grid on them.
