This wouldn't cause any significant changes in the way that normal frigate use these modules; they'd still have to venture within web range. It would allow the Sentinel, however, to operate just outside heavy nos/neut range, putting it on an equal footing with the other T2 EW frigs, all of which can already operate outside heavy nos/neut range.
Alternatively, the Sentinel's nos/neut range bonus could be increased from 40% range per level to 65% per level. My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

With maximum skills the Hyena gets a web range of 20km, firmly within Heavy neut/nos range. Furthermore, the Sentinel is the most neut/nos resistant of the 4 ships, having, as you say, a neut/nos amount and range bonus.

Edited by: Kazuo Ishiguro on 24/10/2007 23:44:04 I apologise for that oversight. I was thinking partly of the revised interceptors, which can use scrams out at 30km, definitely outside heavy nos/neut range, and as far as 36km when the scrams are overloaded. The other two EAS frigs also work well outside that range.
I probably wouldn't have mentioned this except for the claim in the recent dev blog that the Sentinel represents a serious threat to a battleship; most people, if they wanted to web a battleship, would probably use another battleship or a recon ship to do it, either of which would have a good chance of surviving. Sensibly, no claim has been made about what threat the Hyena represents to a battleship.
The point is, I doubt many people will want to use Sentinel to kill the cap of a battleship as long as it has to venture within 25km of it. One blast of a heavy neut = no MWD = dead frigate, and switching over to small nos reduces its effectiveness. My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

Actually the gallente and caldari are far more nos/neut resistant.
Because they operate out of nos/neut range to begin with

It needs more range tbh. Its like flying a Curse on poppers or something. Its probably easier to herd cats blindfolded than juggle its cap, neuts and drones at even 3km/sec let alone faster.
vs other frigate, interceptors and the like its a case of they're in range for a second, maybe 2, then out again. It stands no chance vs its peers as the Hyena web pins it (dead), Keres damps and kills it before it can lock (dead), same with the Kitsune ECM (dead).

It doesn't need anything. This thing is an awesome cruiser killer. I've used all four of the new EW frigs. The sentinel is one of my favorites. Each one is a very narrow niche tool.
If you're having problems with it, then you're just using it for the wrong job. No good against other EW frigs? No good against Inties? Don't use it for that role. Choose something else.
No single ships in eve can/should be balanced for 100% effectiveness in all situations. Frig V for each race is a pitiful amount of training time. Train up the other races and use them as required. Use the Sentinel for what it's good at, and use everything else for other roles. Bellum Eternus [Vid] L E G E N D A R Y [Vid] L E G E N D A R Y I I |

I suppose it's also good vs. battlecruisers, but it's probably safer to say that the claim about it being a BS cap-killer is rather dubious than it is to argue that it needs a boost. My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

Isn't the sentinel a much more efficient drone attack ship than the ishkur?
It is faster, lighter, has more drone bay, can launch 80% of what the ishkur can launch...
Its just as if the curse/pilgrim had nearly as much drone bandwidth (as in 100 Mb/s compared to 125) as the ishtar and a larget dronebay (60 to 45-50 is same as 433 compared to 325-375 -HAS skill 4-5) and its actual nos/neut capability. If bandwidth doesn't talk to you : imagine a curse with 430 m3 dronebay and fielding either 4 heavy or 3 heavy+2 med drones with the nosf and track disrupt capability.
At this point, this ship is just death to all assault ships...
I'm also worried about the vexor's new dronebay compared to the arbitrator. I use both, vexor for PvE for having superior gun firepower and more HP and the arbitrator as an electronic attack cruiser with drones. So, before, they had both 75 m3 dronebay and the way I think it was intended was 5 med and 5 light, you choose size of drones and lanch them. Now, the arbitrator gets a very large dronebay, 50Mb/s bandwidth which makes it the most versatile drone cruiser with many spare drones or some wings of repair/EW drones. (the goal of bandwidth as explained in the devblog) And the vexor gets 75Mb/s bandwidth (more than the arbitrator, but it seems unuseful to have over 50Mb/s for a cruiser) and a smaller dronebay than the arbitrator which means nearly no spare drones with the 100m3. Here, the goal of the bandwidth (as in having spares and other types of drones while limiting what you can fly to your ship size) was not reached at all.
So, now, the vexor gots the dronebay as the vexor navy issue had before the updates, which was really good if you want only to do missions and have 5 med + 5 light + 3 spare light + 1 spare med. Another thing is that the vexor navy still gots 100m3 dronebay and has 100Mb/s, it sounds like the stats were not updated with the bandwidth theory for droneships at all. The vexor navy issue could be a very very versatile drone cruiser if it had a dronebay like the arbitrator has now + 33% (as in 100 compared to 75) and only 50Mbit/s bandwidth. It would make those ships capable of doing many things, like having combat drones and repair drones and maybe even some EW drones.
Or someone explains me the goal of bandwidth because I must have missed the objectives... -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

only thing that seems wrong with the ship is the claim that it can be a danger to battleships in a full neut setup. that one is just plain silly.

What's ridiculous is the Kitsune's targetting range. It gets a targetting range nerf compared to the Griffin (the T1 variant). Not only that, but it gets a ECM optimal range bonus ! You need TWO (yes, TWO) sensor booster IIs just to reach a targetting range a bit above your ECM's optimal (not falloff) at maxskills. _

...autoaggroing drones and 3 t2 friagte wrecks
The sentinel has cap recharge modules and 3 neuts in such an outfit. It will go boom if you look at it too hard.

Keep in mind guys, not all BS fit Nos/Neuts, alot of them don't acutally to my knowledge.
You can't claim a ship needs boosted because there is a mod which can ruin its day.
Such a mod exists for every ship in eve, I'm sure plenty BS will see an early end due in no small part to the sentinel.

Sentinel is quite a good tackler with that NOS bonus, it gives it some survivability at least, although a 3 slot tank only goes so far. ---

its not the neut the sentinel has to worry about its the 5 light or medium drones that will rip it apart in no time if it fits for 3x neuts...with such a fit it wont have much of a tank or speedtank to survive against the drones of a bs.
also note how i didnt claim that the ship needs a boost. i think its fine the way it is. just find the claim in the devblog really missplaced. a sentinel should only be a problem for a bs if the bs decides to go afk or there are some other enemies present as well wich keep the bs bussy (and then you should rather say "a sentinel and a group of other ships can be a problem to a bs").

what actually needs to be fixed is the unproportianate (spelling) on the small neuts and nos... small t2 neut uses 10 PG, and shoots farthest. best named is 9 PG, and shoot LESS far than the t2. other neuts use 8 PG... the t2 nos, has the same range as the best named
also. the medium nos and neuts are the same pg cept for t2... which is not in line with the small mods _________________________________________________________ Only once you've lost everything, are you free to do anything. |
