Maybe more specific: in lag fest your bombs would easily fly over 300 km. Now with 1000 on grid they work. |

What exactly are the new cloaking rules? I don't remember reading anything about cloaking changes in patch notes, except for "cloaked ships will not decloak each other". |

Good bomber pilots are VERY useful, and very effective.
Bad bomber pilots, well they just give the rest a bad name, but also allow the good ones to be underestimated

Bombers, both sides had bomberwings and those killed a metric ton of ships and only because both sides had bombers the battle was even.

Bombers... brings back memories :)
The same day the patch with the new manufacturing of bombs went live we were attacked by a shitfest of people. I manufactured a batch of bombs and me and some others went there to try them out.
We found out the hard way that they were kind of useless when used one and one, but that it was easy to get ships to spread out to get out of the blast radius. This in turn made it harder for them to RR properly.
At one time me and a wingman saw a POS mod being harrassed by a bloody ton of fighters. We aligned in and sent bombs flying one after the other... no more fighters :p
Later on in that fight one of my corp mates dread was covered by every drone known or unknown. I had one single bomb left and I managed to jiggle through the attackers lines to the 30km mark and asked for permission to put a bomb right on top of him. At first the FC hesitated, but after another guy in our corp told him that the drones + incoming damage was killing him I was told to drop it. I did and after that there were like 5 drones left on him and the dread was saved :D It actually got a mention in scrapheap about how absolutely nasty we were to their drones :D
At the end of that war we were doing a series of POS bashes when a cyno popped and a titanbridge appeared. At the time I was part of the ED/IRC black ops brigade and all of us were carrying Concussion bombs. We warped in from every direction and dropped our bomb loads. In those pops we got more than 50 kills in one go. Myself I got like 14 pods and 1-2 ship kills (where at least one was a friendly dictor.
The FC had been kind of sceptical to us flying those bombers. He rather wanted us to be in regular BSs, but after that incident he acknowledged that the bombers really had made the day. Every ship they targeted was basicly in hull or deep armor and it looked as if they had been hit by a doomsday or two. The rest was more or less a turkey shoot... it was awsome.
I love bombers, always have, but there have not been much use for them in WH space where I have been living for more than a year now... since a lot of ships you face there are T3s which bombs are loltasticly bad against... but oh the memories are still super sweet :D |

What is the best bomber type at the moment for mass/saturation bombing on fleets? Going to be a Bomber pilot primarily on this guy, is the Hound generally agreed to be best? How about the Caldari bomber? |

This... there are many bombers in that channel, ask questions or you can fly and practice bombing with those folks, people from different alliances/corps bomb together, just a bunch of bombers, wanting to bomb. |

I don't think any particular bomber is better when it comes to bombing, except for those that can fit 2 bombs in cargo bay. But otherwise, the Purifier has the fitting for a crapton of torp dps. All the others have one deficiency or another. the bonuses are all identical saving that they have a racial damage type bonus rather than all around bonuses.

The best bomber for actual bombing is the one every one else is flying. There are no other cross skills than the racial frigate to be able to fly one race's bombers so I;d consider training all of them personally if you want a dedicated bomber character. |

The Hound reigns supreme, always has, always will. Bombs are once again an amazing force multiplier in large fleet engagements, and can literally turn the tide of battle with a small number. For someone that has had CovOps V trained for 4 years on several toons, this is an amazing thing (TiDi+Bombs, No CovOps de-cloaking each other, until someone DC's anyway)!
Examples:
27 Man Bomber Wing vs 131 Man Armor Fleet
14 Bombers vs Tornado Gang + Support
The AHAC gang in this battle report killed a whopping 4 ships that jumped in just after the bombing run.

You bomb in waves with a delay between each wave so one groups bombs have exploded before the next is in range to take damage. |

bombs fly 30k in the direction your ship is pointing. Start out ~40k from your target and align till you are about 35 away. Decloack, bombs away, GTFO!

Pretty much this, it takes a little coordination at the start, but afterwards, everyone gets the same ammo from the ammotruck, and life is good.
If you launch 100 Shrapnel Bombs, they all land without exploding each other.
If you launch 99 Shrapnel Bomb and 1 Scorch Bomb, There are no bombs and someone just got primary'd.
Works best with 10 Void Bombs to annihilate cap, followed by all the Shrapnel you can dish out.

Bombs do not have 100% resist to their own damage type. It takes about 7 bombs to pop one of the same type. |

I've been staring at the Stealth Bombers affectionately for a long time and just realized I'm actually in a pretty good position to start training for one (and flying them with economical viability). What are good Bomb/Torp skills as a bare minimum to make it worthwhile getting into the ship?
