As in Curse Alliance.
Pirates or not pirates?
I have seen lots of posts saying Curse Alliance are a band of pirates, and lots of posts saying they aren't. I have no personal experience with any corp from CA and don't know myself.
Am I right in thinking that Forsaken Empire are pirates and that they have joined CA?
Am I right in thinking that certain corps in CA regularly engage in pirating?
If anyone can post their opinions I would be grateful.

We are at war with just about every alliance... We will kill non-CA in our territory...
Some ppl see this as piracy... But I do not, quite frankly.

We kill ships/pods that are in our space, in alliances we are at war with, that we suspect to be spies (a little paranoia goes a long way), etc.
The vocal citizens of the Eve universe have largely decreed that any PVP is piracy. So in that light, we're pirates. We are also PVP-luvin, gun-wielding, missile-launching, adrenaline junkies living life to it's fullest and always eager to put our clones and our ships on the line to have a little fun. We love assisting others in getting a taste of the PVP we so adore, so we fight not only a defensive war to keep our home free of invaders, but we also take the fight to enemy space.
Peace would mean boredom to a vast majority of us who would then have to find a new cause to fight for. When faced with boredom to achieve peace or the thrill of combat at the expense of my property and campfire songs with my neighbors in SA. I choose war.

Depends how you define pirates. A lot of people consider "pirate" to be anyone who attacks them without giving due warning, or formally being at war with their corp; since CA will kill on sight pretty much anyone who's in Curse, or any other region they claim, that gets them a lot of "pirate" tags.
Quote: I have seen lots of posts saying Curse Alliance are a band of pirates, and lots of posts saying they aren't. I have no personal experience with any corp from CA and don't know myself.
Some corporations, who had previously been known and admitted pirates, joined the CA. At the time they joined, they claimed to have renounced piracy - they may have been telling the truth, they may not, I wouldn't know, I wasn't in them.
A bunch of other corps refused to accept the claim, and insisted that, since those corps had previously been pirates, and were now CA members, that means the CA were now pirates.
That argument's still raging. Again, whether you believe yea or nay, basically depends on what you call a pirate.
What is NOT in dispute, is that the CA is a highly aggressive body, who will attack you without warning if you're trespassing on turf they consider to be theirs. If you can't handle the risk of such attacks, the best policy is to be where they aren't.

1) If you think it's stupid, don't read it.
2) If its been asked so many times, then get the mods to sticky it.
3) Don't tell me to use the search function, as there is none.
4) Don't troll on a topic when someone is asking a legitimate question which they do not know the answer to.
You should be proud that CA generates so much attention

Well Some say that we are pirates because they want or need a reason to attack us. well whatever. FE are former pirates, personally dont care if they are or not. we are pvpers we enjoy the fight. that is all that matters.

I spent a few weeks mining ark in GWL and Curse and can say they're not pirates. They just don't want anyone not welcome in thier territory.
I will say that alot of them are very rude trash talking asses though. The rest are nice and polite when trying to blow you away. And a very few are great to pvp and have a realy good time with.

Isn't the word "pirate" slightly overused? IMO the CA is a couple of hundred individuals each playing the game the way we see fit. Some are more agressive than others. Personally I have a tendency to check unknown players for the CA tag and, if no such tag is to be found, start asking in alliance-chat if they're to be shot or not (driving Jabba insane in the process) and be ready to attack roughly when the intended target logs off to go to bed. I'll try to change that and be a little more "shoot first, ask questions later" Jabba Either way, I really don't think we have a responsibility to justify how we play the game to anyone. Call us whatever you want really.

Nahh.
They're only so big and powerful because they have so many players within their ranks who enjoy PvP and take the trouble to be good at it.
So CA becomes utterly dominant? Nobody dares challenge them, and they control the entirety of 0.0 space? In that case, all those people who enjoy PvP, won't be having any fun any more as there's nobody for them to fight. Then, they either quit the game, or splinter into groups so that they can fight each other; either way, total power in 0.0 is a self-defeating achievement.

not true.
togco remains in gw and we are not CA. we are here doing our part. it seems most ppl just like to chit-chat about the problem, rather than seek a resolution through action.
ok this is a numbers game....lets do the math. how many spineless wretches dwell in empire? ok, now subtract a couple hundred (ca) from that number. yes, CA are STILL outnumbered by atleast 15-20 times. i cant see the problem??????

LOL. And from my experience lots of harty sing songs can be heard when in the region...."and really bad eggs, yoho yoho, a pirates life for me" etc. So that settles it - rum, scallywags and singing = pirates.
Please no more of these threads, or at least put 'CA pirates?' in the title so I can avoid them. I may be in SA but this topic is boring now
