It was a joke man, dont take it too seriously :( we didnt have emo's when i was a kid tbh i dont see what all the fuss is about being a depresed etc. I got through my youth being bullied ruthlessly and all its done is made me a borderline pyscopath. Ive got better as ive got older though.

I was punk myself for many years. My dad didn't worry about it since he accepted it as fase. Guess he was right since I'm back to my country roots although I still have my spiked boots stored away and a couple of misfits cd's along with Jerry Only's autograph.

Emo is the latest name for the teen-angst 'thing' which teenagers don't realise makes us thirtysomethings picture Emo Phillips whenever they hear the name. ----- Visible Implants - good for so many occasions |

Emo.... yeah the video is kinda dead on :P it's got a lot of bad facts.
and oh god I could go on for pages but just one thing.
it is a subset of goth, and a sub subset of punk. ever hear the suicidal T song? that song is as damn punk as you can get.
they may have different fashions... actually not to much different...
but like goth and punk it's full of hate for the man, openess about bi or *** being ok (ok emo seems to have more of it) it hates highschool, it hates parents and littlebrothers... well not always, but it's jsut another angst teen thing. With a bunch of teens that feel out of place getting together because they can be cool to each others.
just like how a boy wearing a skirt at rocky horror is cool, but in publics gets you abused.
People love to moss together when "no one understands them"
I've been there as a rivet head, I know what's it about, and thus I harbor no ill will for the emos, I see a lot of myself in them.Being a teenager sucks you have to least give them that :P ----------------------------------- I'm working my way through college target CCP need...more room... |

Wow, glad I went down the EBM, industrial, cyber route. When I was listening to goth a few years ago it was nothing like the emo fest you talk about. What bands are doing the whole 'torn teenager' thing?, besides cruxshadows, they were always more emo and whiney though.

Totaly agree with you. Let them have their teen angst. We've all been there to an extent. And just like the kids today, we also thought we were the first and only people to ever go through it.
When I was a youngster, we could pick our "tribe" from any of The Breakfast Club. Guess it hasn't changed too much really.

I find myself rapidly approaching 40 and my teenage angst has segued neatly into my mid-life crisis with nary a pause.
I was hoping for a couple of years off at least before the baldness and the impotence and the wondering where it all went.
Oh well; nothing for it now but to nip out and buy a large capacity motorcycle and matching coloured leathers and helmet.

So THAT's what that line says! I've been wondering that off and on for about 15 years now.

Emo is my brother-in-law who thinks that because his hair is dyed black, and he dresses in black clothing that he is cool.
Emo is my other brother-in-law who believes the world should revolve around him, and if it doesn't then he has a ***** or complaint about everything any anything.
Emo is the lost art of "why me, pity me"
If I remember right I was looked at as a stoner, then a grease monkey....the list could go on and on, just depends on the time and the place.
