A good start. But as is evident in my sig link, there's a great deal of room for improvement in the UI as a whole.
I'll even give you an easy thing to start with: Remove all "OK" button-only dialogs. Replace them with say....a status window that you can dump all the combat/information to. Have you guys ever looked at WoW's chat/text window config? It's farking amazing. And it's not patented (hint, hint).
I checked out the changes the other day on Singularity, there are what - three new hotkeys? --

Originally by: Valeo Galaem That has little to do with the UI. It is caused from the current graphics engine not allowing the game to do anything else until it has loaded all of the objects and models into memory. The new graphics engine (everyone gets it - engine =/= new models) fixes this.
It has everything to do with the UI. The UI is operating in the same thread as the rest of the game. Get it in it's own thread and the problem is solved. MVC pattern, guys.

Originally by: Matalino Please tell me that you have made the overview opaque to mouse clicks.
It is annoying to select a target in the overview only to find that it has targeted something else because it happened to be at that point in space behind your overview.
If I want to click on something in space, then I will move my camera so that it is no longer behind the overview. If I click in side the overview box then I want the click registered on that overview item, not on the item in space that happens to be located behind the overview.
Keep the transparent appearance, but lose the transparent mouse clicking.
I think they did, actually. Or at least you can clicke the opacity button on the overview and force it.
Check it out on singularity for yourself. --

I've yet to encounter a single player that uses EVE voice.
I took the free 30 day trial, but.......I had no one to talk to.
Seems most people in EVE use TS. WoWers use vent for whatever reason.
So much effort for the benefit of so few. :-/
GUI love....please? (see sig link....please??!) --

Originally by: Valea I do hope the detachable drone screen does not constitute the very hyped changes to the drone interface. I require almost all the hight of my screen to fit my 300 drones, and my active drones without having to scroll. Some simple yet VERY useful changes would be
-SUBTABS, as in HEAVY>EWAR>WEBIFIER, or COMBAT>HEAVY>ORGE II. I have about 30 drone groups, these could be reduced into FIGHTER, HEAVY, SENTRY, MEDIUM, LIGHT with subtabs. Please make the lives of all carrier pilots easer and implement this long overdue solution.
-HOTKEYS, How about instead of right click>attack, I can just press f9 to have all drones attack my current target. Or at least have a recall key, and programmable deploy keys.
-SMALLER DRONES IN SPACE SCREEN, The drones under "Drones in space" take up a lot of space for every drone, how about taking out all the needless blank space above and below the health bar to reduce the size of the drone screen?
-DRONE GROUPING IN STATION, I am not too keen on sitting in .4 space with my drone panel taking up my whole screen while I fumble my 300 drones into their respective categories.
Check out the changes on Singularity. Some of these have actually been implemented. Off the top of my head: Focus fire option Aggressive/passive mode toggle hotkeys: All drones attack target All drones return and orbit All drones return to bay Toggle passive/aggressive mode (though there's no freaking indicator or status change as to which you just changed to...which is asinine) No drone group -> hotkey mappings and therefore no drone launching hotkey
No drone group love. I guess the devs don't use carriers. Would make sense in light of CCP Zulupark's dev blog. --

Originally by: Decairn I was hoping the UI work would be a rethink from the ground up rather than a new lick of paint with functional additions. There's a lot of space where windows sit on top of pretty space graphics; move the controls and info out of the way of the shiny space stuff.
Visit the link in my sig. Show your support. I think Oveur mentioned bookmarking it once, but given his cryptic style of writing only FSM knows what he meant.
It's not much but it's my best effort so far to get some real GUI changes. --

Originally by: Celiss Improvements to the UI are far more important to my enjoyment than random features like Heat (not to say Heat is bad, but I'd take some basic UI improvements I use constantly over an extra feature).
How about font selection? Allow us to use some other fonts, like Verdana. Something that's been in most computer programs since 1984. An expansion or two ago, you could unofficially replace the font yourself, and it worked fine. I'd like to be able to *choose* from a couple fonts, or at least, allow us to modify the font ourselves once again.
I don't think CCP actually has any GUI people. They don't seem to know their rectum from a hole in the ground when it comes to good GUI design.
Actions that require 18 steps aren't seen as a problem.
Making the entire game wait on market data seems fine to them. Probably because they're all sitting 2-3 hops from the servers and don't see a problem.
Modal dialogs with only an OK button are fine and dandy to them.
It's completely absurd. --

I think a green light is an easier visual for healthy than healthy and damaged all being different shades of red. Make them yellow, blue and pink, I don't care.
But all red is a bit weird I think. Different colours are easier to process on a quick glance.
I'm not sure what red is telling me to begin with so I'm having difficulty caring. --
