There are plenty of algorithms which can detect the most twisted relations and reveal subjacent patterns. You should check mathematics applied to epidemiology for example. As I said, it's not the abuse which is interesting, but the means to detect it and take appropriate measures. I'm sure even Goons would think twice before pulling something out if they know each time they do it they risk a corp or alliance-wide temporal ban
Besides, this would only concern forum sections which are currently crumbling under crap.
Now if your people genuinely take part as individuals, there's little ground that except on political matters, all your members would state similar opinions on a specific subject. That's why I said from the beginning that political sections should be moderated manually.

Whatever you do, the moderators need to be much more strict. Forum bans and suspensions need to cover all the alts and if possible all other accounts that person has.

The noise to signal ratio is lower than it once was. We've often threads that have no purpose except trolling / annoying some enemies for the giggles. We've often lots of replies that just try to derail the threads for fun or just because people don't like the original post(er) and try to spam it dead. Think CAOD is not what it should/could be, because it's abused and people see it as a mini game to spam and derail everything and 'own' other posters there instead of using it for discussion.
One the other hand there are also less interestings game political things to discuss in this Goon vs. BoB polarized universe for obvious reasons, so well ... maybe they are just spamming a place that isn't that interesting anymore anyway.

Direct democracy is a stupid idea, at least for this community. I want more CCP dictatorship, not less. The "Report to a Moderator" option sounds like a much better idea, and I notice someone from CCP has mentioned that they are working on it. ---

I strongly disagree.
CAOD had never been a temple of love, but at least the walls weren't covered with posters of race hate, the mocking of RL deaths, accusations of RL child abuse, and the like.
This is the image of Eve that CCP puts out, of a community where this kind of thing is tolerated .. and things were never like that in the past.
This isn't about group A is now dominating group B, it is about good taste and decency.
I'll agree that the forums got worse, but its the bottom (hopefully) of a longlasting downward trend. It's a pity, but also an inevitable effect of how the game really is. It would require a completely different attitude by CCP to reverse it.

Imho ccp doesnt need many mods, they just need to be alot harsher.
1. No altposts in COAD. Comeone, a one man corp with a name like "COAD brigade" is a alt, use a bit of common sense. Not saying everyone in very small corps should be banned from that forum, but if members of such corps noticably derail threads, maybe mods should simply make sure they never post there again.
2. If someone posts bull****, as in posts that serve no purpose other to derail, troll or affront people mods should follow 3 simple steps. 1. Warning, 2. Temp ban of 2 weeks, 3. Permaban for caod, or if appropriate forum wide. Remember that those alt corps get dealt with on first offence by point 1.
3. Corp/alliance wide temp bans. Limited to whole forum or only subboards as appropriate. If people think they need to call their buddies from alliance just to spam the forums or a post, give them a some time to cool their heads.
What i dislike most about people here is the attitude "its just fun so its ok". Fun is ok, bull**** is not. If you dont see the difference you need to get taught the difference by mods.
Whoa, i managed to write all that without bashing goons. But i have to address this part directly to them. You have a different kind of humor than most of us, and i quite simply dont always get it, nor do i want to get it. If you want to be funny, and make jolly posts about ***s and colored people (and i know your not serious about that, i get that much), there is a forum for that which you know, and its not eve-online.com.
I think on a corporate forum there should be a line, and no amount of "but i wasnt serious" should allow you to step over it. Some of the crap i have seen posted in COAD could bring ccp into legal trouble(which is why they deleted it), because at the end of the day they are atleast partly responsible for the stuff on this forum.

I hope you aren't saying that we should accept the type of posting we are seeing because Eve is a harsh game? That would be like saying it is okay for people not to be able to seperate in game and real life, because to me that is where the line is drawn.
I have no problem mocking someone's character getting blown up in a game, especially Eve, but a player actually dying? That ain't funny.

goon and bob aren't the only entities on the forum, no matter how much it seems like that sometimes.
I want to see your face when 1000 goons come all together to vote ban on your head.
This system will not work because there will be organized groups who will exploit it.

My/our accepting or not accepting is irrelevant. With the type of game that Eve is, and CCPs lax attitude about enforcing even the most basic forms of ethics will eventually lead to a forum like this or even worse. My statement goes into what I believe to be cause and effect, not desirability or acceptability.
Yelling 'I don't accept this' doesn't mean squat, there is a lot of things people would rather 'not accept' in Eve, but they happen anyway and nobody cares, least of all CCP.

I think something has to be done, with CAOD especially. As a corp CEO I try to stay in touch with EVE politics and happenings, thus visit CAOD frequently. But it has come to a point where I am considering if it is worth the effort. As a neutral observer in the "we vs them" epic forumsmackfest I can say I feel that yes - a certain entity is spamming more than all others - but it doesn't really matter who does it, it needs to stop or the forum is lost.

Basically the preception from my end is that CCP is afraid of another Threadnaught and the loss of subscriptions from said Threadnaught related corps/alliances. Didn't the Moderators get the axe shortly after CCP kowtowed to them?

Pretty much this.

man has a point. CCP is tolerating certian things cause well just like people that use macro's. They are a vital part to the program cause they repsent a large part of the paying customers. And just like a certain dev/gm has said. Aslong as the memberships keep increasing whats the problem.
Its funny when you have to pay for the game to post on the forums but some of the forums have turned into a un-managed childs playground. Thats fine though aslong as the subscriptions keep coming in.

No I think you are wrong. What CCP are afraid of are corrupt moderators who ban the innocent but ignore their friends posts who violate the rules.
Remember the event which we cannot speak about. They don't want that to happen again.

If we had some sort of automatic "don't like you" function on the forum we wouldn't have had wonderful replies like:

Hmm, I would just like to say No but then someone will probably say I need to put more thought into it. I really don't want to put more thought into it as I am already having a bad day and can't get my Eve Fix because of work and school. On top of all that I have software engineers who need to start thinking straight and I have a headache because of them so I will just say No to the OP.
Ok, a little explanation why I say no - What if members from one Alliance really don't like you or some one gets a wild hair up their butt and creates dozens of alts because they think what you wrote was stupid. You then have a "forum alt" start the poll and then everybody else in that alliance or corp just vote away.
Even if a real person starts it as they don't post here often enough to worry about the 7 day kick from the forums the rest of the group votes and it is removed just because the person doesn't like you.
Have a Nice Day! ________________________

While I don't think this will work... Something needs to be done... The forums and especially CAOD have goon mad... If it's not a necro it's a new crap post. IMO you just need to get strict on the forums and give people vacations for spamming and necroing posts... (By account not char) Or add char/corp/alliance ignore lists so we can just ignore them all
