Ok, I was trying to work something out here.
A Badger Blue Print costs 3,138,750 isk for 15 runs. Each run requires the following:
isogen - 514@58= 29812 maxallon - [email protected]= 114818.9 noxium - 177@125= 22125 pyerite - [email protected]= 36909.4 tritanium - 33225@3= 99675 zydrine - 34@1850= 62900
Total cost of goods per run: 366,240.3 isk.
Cost for 15 runs including blue print cost per ship: 575,490.3 isk.
To buy a badger on the market is 351,080 isk.
How come it cost 224,410.3 isk more to produce than it costs to buy straight out?

Edited by: GC13 on 31/10/2007 13:31:22 Well, given the build costs you just gave me, you're running the numbers with Production Efficiency zero and a Badger BPO with ML 0... That means you're coming up with a cost more than 33% higher to build the thing than a typical builder would have.
Also, your BPO will actually produce infinite Badgers, so your cost/unit will go down as you build more. In other words, it's costing you a heck of a lot more to build in your little examination of the costs than it would cost the average producer. Getting your skills up and doing Material Research on the blueprint will help a lot.

How can you produce infinate units? I thought once the run is up that it gone?

Yeah, if it's a BPO, you can produce indefinitely with it, so you can turn a profit even with your unresearched BPO (but ships, generally, need to be researched). From the numbers you gave us it costs 266,565 ISK per ship, plus installation costs. If you can sell it from 350,000, then you will pay off the price of the BPO in 37 runs.
If it happens to be a BPC that only goes for 15 runs, you probably paid too much for it. ------------------- 4 8 15 16 23 42 108 |

Blue Print Originals have an infinite number of Licensed Production Runs. Right-click and select Show Info on your Blueprint and look for "Licensed Production Runs". ------------------- 4 8 15 16 23 42 108 |

How can you get a BPO, the ones on the stock market are all limited production runs.

The ones on the market are NOT limited run.
If they say "Blueprint Original: Yes" then you can re-use them as much as you like.
They do have a limit on how many you can build in one go though, which is probably what you've seen. nullnull |

They're BPOs, and therefore infinite; you're likely looking at the max production limit. I wish they would give that thing a better label, as it is a source of constant frustration...

You misunderstood the stat : What you see is the number of runs you can launch at once, meaning that you can't build more than this number in one time.
What you must look to know if it is a BPO is 'licenced production runs : infinite'.

Edited by: niroshido on 31/10/2007 15:04:09 a BPO = blueprint original, everything made from this is a by-product of an original blue print
a blue print can be research to improve production time (reduces time needed to build the product)(P.E.), its material effeciency (reduces the amount of resources required to build the product)(M.E.)
researching your BPO is related to your skill level the amount of ship u can build at one time is also dependant on your skills (industry and science for improving BPO and producing stuff from the blueprint)
when it comes to making a profit through sales, having max material effiency will decrease build cost, thus decreases the ISK u have to spend to acquire the minerals, or reduces time needed to mine. either way it reduces costs making a bigger profit margin on your sales

a quick explanation of blueprint attributes...
Produces ... what it makes and how many Blueprint Original/Copy ... Original = Infinite, Copy = specified number of licensed runs.
----- Material Level .. Also known as ME, the Number of times the blueprint has be researched to reduce materiel costs.
Wastage Factor .. % of extra materials required for the blueprint over what is theoretically required to build the item. (Base is 10% and does not include waste from lack of skills)
Productivity Level .. aka PE, Number of times the blueprint was researched to reduce build time.
Production Limit .. This one confuses a lot of people. The Production Limit is the maximum number of licensed runs that can be on a single copy of the blueprint. i.e. a Badger Mark II blueprint has Production Limit 15. That means a Badger II BPC can never be more than 15 runs.
------ The Manufacturing and Reseraching entries on the bottom should be self explanitory, but just in case, the first one is the time it takes to perform the action on the blueprint based only on the blueprint itself. The second one is the time it takes to perform the action on the blueprint taking your skills into account.

Is there a way to develop the blueprint , from what I have seen the only way to get a blueprint is with the market or with agents, is there a way a scientific could come up with an idea an make a bpo of anything in the game_?

No, Tech 1 (base item) Blueprints are only available on the market. The idea being that someone already invented it and it was accepted for use as a standardized item. Faction Item Blueprints are only available from the faction ... the BPO's are top secret held by NPCs that never come out and hide safely away where nobody can get them T2 BP's used to be seeded via a lottery on research agents. This has since stopped and T2 BP's must be created from their T1 counterpart's BPC via the invention system.
Your idea sounds like you're too cheap to spend the money to buy a blueprint and want a way to get it for free.

Mi idea was to be able to create different modified pre-stablished products. For example a gun made from one material could have one type of stats and the one made from a better material could have better stats. So Things would be specilized in different play styles, not having to bind to pre-stablished stats.
But of course this will bring to have more kind of materials and materials shifts so its not always in the same place.
Well ty anyway.

Part of the reason it's done like it is now ... It's a lot less work for a database to track 100 Modules of 6 different types (Meta 0-5, f.ex) .. than it would be for the database to track 100 modules of 6 types each having 4-8 subtypes with varying stats.

Just as a slight warning about researching your BPO though, it takes a lot of skills and the chances of finding a research slot open are rediculously slim. Good luck. +++++++++++++++ I saw the Sign...!

Edited by: Helen Hunts on 01/11/2007 01:06:17 Slight correction: Finding a research slot without a lot of waiting IS an exercise in futility, true, but few skills are NEEDED to research a BPO. Skills like Metalurgy are very HELPFUL in cutting down the time required to get the desired research done, but not actually required for most BPOs.
EDIT: For Invention (to get a T2 BPC) you WILL need a good batch of skills trained up _______________________________

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents worth.
In case any other newbies are confused, doing a showinfo on a blueprint whilst browsing the market won't show the "Original/Copied Blueprint" field.
This is because all blueprints sold on the market (not via Contracts) are blueprint originals. (to my understanding that is)
It is only after you've purchased/received a blueprint whereby doing showinfo will give you the Original/Copied field.
