Edited by: Malachi Nefzen on 31/10/2007 16:13:25 Its great EVE's getting some improved graphics, but with the new engine is there gonna be new/better effects. Anyone got a clue?
Somethings that are missing and should be in: Shots actually MISSING something (not 100% graphical hits) Shield flares ups when hit Damage Models, nothing fancy, just some damage to the ships

I hope so, cause great looking models with the current crappy looking effects is going to look disgusting tbh.
Also need new sound effects.... or just a new sound engine that doesnt destroy fps

Agreed, the current effects aren't up to modern standards and we could certainly do with more of them, provided they don't add significant lag that is.

Edited by: Thrawnfl on 31/10/2007 17:43:19 dev's already said they are not doing effects and backgrounds in Trinity. We get Detailed High Res Ships with 5 year old Effects and backgrounds... hmm reminds me of X3 The Return... looks good till you fire your gun.
Why does this also remind me of Vista.... was suppose to have all kinds of new stuff but some had to be cut, so now it looks half a**ed

I was disappointed as well to here this from devs. However it does seem to fit in with their methodology as it pertains to new technology. First they get it deployed and somewhat stable. Then they start adding features. They don't seem to do much in the way of "big bang" deployments. I wouldn't be surprised if the art teams already were working on these assets, but just waiting for a thumbs up that the engine is functioning well on TQ.

I believe similar, we have enough trouble with the small steps EVE takes without throwing large amounts of content in at the same time. I'm already of the opinion that Trinity may have too many features and they will effect each other in ways that are impossible to foresee.
But I do so want improved effects.

Big FAIL for CCP even before Trinity II is launched.

No new effects? That would suck BIG time! Hope they change that. Especially with the PS3.0 requirement this should be *THE PRIMARY* point to improve.

I'm rather disappointed in this too. I mean, some modules like the salvager, don't even have an effect yet
Generally i think improving the environment with better effects and better environmental sound, would improve the game experience a whole lot more than just high-res models.

The question is, would you like the shiny ships/stations now and the backgrounds/effects in 6 months or wait 6 months and get everything then?

That is one of the worst errors, and it should never have made it past the alpha-tests.
The other two you mention would be nice too.
