If this travesty of an expansion does in fact contain the multiple obscene nerfs that have been predicted I predict the number of canceled subscriptions will skyrocket.
People whine and threaten to cancel their 50 accounts, but in reality they dont. They will most likely get more than enough new accounts from the next expansion to cover the few that actually leave.
The sad part is that ccp knows damn well they can get away with whatever they please; there will always be people that refuse to take a stand and will continue playing no matter what. Doesn't matter how many players actually quit because there will still be those that stay onboard, and there will always be new players joining.

Lets see.. I've been through every expansion listed here. And from what I've seen so far, I can only conclude the following:
Trinity is the best expansion CCP has ever, or will ever release. All the nerfs you people bleat on about are some long overdue changes. I tip my hat to CCP.

For forum warriors the sky is falling every time something is changing in a mmorpg.
Ive already closed 3 accts and the only reason Im waiting to close the rest is due to obligations that affect others. Once they are completed those subscriptions end as well.

Eve needs to stay fresh, yes, but make it a whole new game and you might find you loose some of the Old Gaurd, with their 3 dozen accounts each, and few new recruits coming in to replace them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but of all the changes (nerfs in your words) that are currently in Sisi, exactly how many of them have made their way over to TQ?
None? Well then, how about everybody take a chill pill, go watch a movie, and calm down before jumping on the 'Eve will be SWG!!!' bandwagon.
A change on Sisi doesn't mean a change on TQ. Sure, alot of changes on Sisi do end up on TQ, but not every single one of them. Wait until Rev III/Trinity (whatever they're calling it these days) until you jump on the bandwagon. If, after they release Rev III/Trinity, you still feel this way then all the power to you. ____________________

Once the sisi changes make it to tranq it is too late. The players making their position known before it is too late is the appropriate thing to do.

Yeah, man...that's frigging brilliant. Let's not try to prevent what many believe might become a terrible mistake, lets's wait till it happens and there's nothing that can be done about it.

Edited by: El Mauru on 03/11/2007 03:15:08 yeah guys- I actually spend today on the test-server testing out setups and actually had a load of fun.
Just wait how the new stuff pans into things- it is *probably* worth the nerfs.
It's a risk CCP is taking right now but maybe it will fresh up things a bit which imho might be a good thing- after today I'm kinda giving them the benefit of the doubt (while silently crying for the dictors).
The inty changes, heavy dictors, t-2 e-war frigattes, more freedom while fielding drones... That's a lot of spice right there for small gang-warfare and maybe a bit more cause for "mobility" in fleet stuff can be wrenched out of things as well. -

Yea the changes are going to be rough for a good number of players (including me)...but hopefully it pans out. Change itself is a tough thing to go through for anyone...just like losing your first ship was aggrivating and caused sleepless nights...you learn to deal with losses in the future. A seasoned PvP pilot takes em in stride...I'm almost there, not quite.
It's tough to swallow, sure...that all these changes are helping the game instead of hurting it. I'm willing to bet however that those that adapt will flourish. (and those that stick back and complain with eventually flourish too...once the adapted players reveal their secrets...they then get copied...and those once complainers can get back in their happy warm place called contentment )

I don't think that the idea of having people discussing changes on forums is that only those who approve should express their views. Your comment is impolite and doesn't contribute anything. If you have nothing else to say, "just **** off, you won't be missed".
But yea, me too is increasingly "hating" EVE. I too feel it's falling apart from changes. Some of them were right to make. Some changes should have been made that haven't been. But everything affects everything and EVE is falling apart. It is in my eyes increasingly an example of how NOT to implement a MMORP PvP space game. If ccp had featured a bit more simulation in rules and less board game, most if not all problems could have been avoided. I prefer not to waste so much precious time these days, but I remain as an observer so ccp still makes money on me

Yup, I'm with Xilimyth. I like EVE. CCP seem to know what they're doing. If they go ahead with a nerf that this many people are vocal about, then they probably have a very good reason for it.

The sad part is that the majority of "the sky is falling" posters are the ones that always go for "ship of the month" type characters. And when the nerf comes as it always does for these kinds of ships/setups (this is true for all mmorpgs) suddenly the game is "ruined". Then they start over again on the next "of the month" setup. And for every player crying over his lost toy there are plenty that think the change is great.
Its just a game. If you dont have fun then quit. CCP can do whatever they want as its their game, noone is forcing you to play.
I've played many mmorpgs over the years and one thing is true for all of them. There are always doomsayers for practically every patch.

I seem to remember the same kind of crying when the first missile and drone nerfs came out. It's just a game...their life depends on it being decent and balanced, hence they have a much larger interest in how the game develops than even the players do. I don't know how many active accts there are right now, but a couple of years ago at fanfest they said it was over 150k. So the same 50 accts screaming chicken little in the forums really are a drop in the bucket. When something is released on TQ, it's not set in stone...they do respond to how things are used and abused to consider future changes and tweaking. If eve never changed at all, we'd still all be in cruisers with no way to make a real 'home' in 0.0 because there would be no outposts to deploy, etc etc...list goes on.

I've got gallente 5 all the way up to BS (with all frigate 5's and amarr cruiser 5 for some diversity). Even as one of the more nerfed people this go around I really don't see why people are screaming about these changes. I remember how much the gankageddon being the king and the raven slaughtering all ships bing and small. I cried for nerf, and they came, now it's my turn to be the nerfee.
Really, as much as I'm upset that the Eos or Myrmidon are getting nerfed. I understand what CCP is doing and support the changes. These ship were simply performing beyond what the ship class should be capable of. Fair enough to me. I may slightly disagree some places, but I'm not going to call the devs*****s or *******s for it, I'll voice it as well reasoned as possible.
Even with these little negatives there's tons of stuff I'm looking forward too. ====

I wonder how CCP decide if a ship is overpowered or not, is it by the number of forum whines from clueless people or it is by how many actually fly popular ships on Tranquillity?
so EOS will be nerfed, and become the worst of its class. Maybe they are right about that one, it was to good or so people on the receiving end say.
The MYRMIDON will only be able to field 3 heavy drones. I rather it stayed the same and people learned to pop the drones instead. With the coming fix to what made drones overpowered - the ability to insta scoop them and get their shields fully recharged, it will make things easier.
CARRIERS, a hot potato that burns. CCP want to nerf it because they think they are the Swiss army knife of eve. I still have no idea what what they mean by that. I seen a lot of carriers die easily in my last alliance when piloted with overconfident people not knowing their limits.
Players that whine about them are those who hates capitals and want to protect their gaming style but blatantly ignores all those people who trained for them. Who invested a lot of time, sp and do not forget real money to pay for their capital character accounts. CCP seems to agree with the whiners, but instead of hitting carriers with one massive nerf we see a lot of smaller ones to their logistic capabilities.
Maintaining a 0.0 kingdom or empire that already was tedious will be a job for the masochists. People log in to have fun. They do not pay to log in for a second job. Not that it matter for me personally. Myself I have no real need of deep space and shiny rocks and fat rats. I'm just there for the pew pew.
So is it all just bad then with the nerfs?
I agree that nosferatu nerf was right, some setups was way to powerful.
Motherships in lowsec will be nerfed, well finally I say.
Upcoming damper nerf and other changes to electronics, looks interesting and I a want to see how it will change eve combat. Hopefully for the better.
Is there any nerf/balance that I wish for?
Nerf to non-dedicated ship using cloaks, I want to see this one happen.
Unnerfing of Amarr, I don't fly Amarr ships with this character but they need fixes.
In the end I will not like some nerfs or I will not agree that the chosen solution is the best one but I adapt and move on.

Some nerfs are really annoying from my special pov. Especially the Myrm nerf. They had better kept the cargo as it was and remove one heavy drone for combat.
I believe that CCP is not just deciding nerfs game concept based. For business pov they need to keep players in game. So they probably listen more to the majority [of noobs/carebears/non-PvPer???] instead of the minority of player who don't petition every bigger loss.
Could be.
